      Tallia sat against a tree at her makeshift camp on the outskirts of the city and warmed her toes by the fire. At twenty years old, she had already learned to survive on her own in a dark and dangerous place. She was a thief, selling whatever she could find to the wealthy collectors on the east side but things were getting complicated with the newly formed guild. Thieves had all banded together and pushed her out of town and out of business.

      Shit, she said, throwing a silver chain into the dirt. How the hell am I going to survive this way?
