60 Spiritual Lessons Making Sense of the Bible

One morning while praying, the Holy Spirit told me to rent a booth at the local flea market. The Lord led me to set up the booth as a prayer booth to be able to pray for people as they came by. When I would notice something physically wrong, or I would learn of some physical problem by talking to them, I would ask them if I could pray for them. If they said yes, I would begin to minister the Word of God. I would then pray for them, and after I prayed I would see a lot of amazing results (many supernatural miracles). I believe that the Word of God will work when we use it. When we share how Jesus healed everyone so many times, and He said we can do what He did, I choose to believe it. I would tell people this, and give them testimonies of people that I had prayed for that was healed. I would also tell them because He was beaten; we have the right to receive physical healing. 1Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

In the beginning one of the worship leaders, would bring his guitar, and would sing. This would cause many people to stop, listen and visit. Sometimes tracts were also used. It wasn’t long before the Lord laid upon my heart to write a page as a testimony to witness to them. I’m not sure, but I think the first was either Is there life after death, or Are you going to heaven. I wanted this to be a witness tool for salvation, but it turned much different than I expected. Every week the Lord would lay upon my heart a different subject. (This also led to some repetition in the different subjects.) As they walked by I would say, “let me give you something to read.” A few rejected them, but many would come back the next week with their hand held out wanting the next one. I believe this was giving them revelation from the Lord they were not getting any other way.

I believe people are hungry for knowledge, but don’t know where to go to get what they need, and many can not afford what is sold in the market. When the weather was cold, I would pass out about 350 to 400. When the weather was good, I would pass out up to 700. If people were interested, I would not only give them the one I was passing out on that day, but all the ones I had previously written up to that point. I tried to make each one fit on one page so when they passed by, I would give them one sheet. I had contact information on the bottom. Some took them to be polite and threw them away, but out of the several hundred, I would only see or know of 4 or 5 that were discarded on any given day. I feel confident that I passed somewhere between 60,000 to 70,000 sheets, either individually or in a package. One of my helpers would go to a grocery store like dollar general or family dollar and pass them out. Some stores made him stand outside in the parking lot, some let him pass them inside the store. I passed out many packages that included all of them in my occupation and among friends and family.

It wasn’t long until I begin getting reports. Some told me that people would teach Sunday School with them. Others told me they would set them beside their Bibles and read them with the Bible, and this was what helped them get through some of their struggles. I had a 70 year old man tell me he didn’t understand the Bible until he read these articles, and then it began to make sense (he had been saved a large part of his life.) I’ve had people tell me that they would read them, and then put them on the bulletin board at work. People would come and say their pastors would ask where they got them.

I believe God’s hand is on these articles, and He will bless anyone that feels led to promote them. My purpose is to teach people the Word of God (Bible), so they are able to draw closer to God and serve Him better. Romans 10:17 faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ, I am Stanley Waide.

I would order toner for my laser printer and refill the cartridges as much as I could (usually 3 or 4 times) before I ordered a new cartridge. As best as I could figure, these cost me from 1.5 to 2 cents a copy. One of my helpers would go to a grocery store like dollar general or family dollar and pass them out. (He always asked permission). Some stores made him stand outside in the parking lot, some let him pass them inside the store. I passed out many packages that included all of them in my occupation and among friends and family.

1. IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?

The scriptures (Bible) talk about life after death. Everyone who knows the Lord Jesus and is still alive at that time, will be caught up in what is known as the rapture; 1Thessolonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: :17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (KJV) If we know the Lord Jesus when we die our spirit will immediately go to heaven. Jesus said; John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. :2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. :3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.(KJV) Eventually we will get to be in a new heaven and a new earth, and a new life. Revelation 21;2 I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, verse; 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain (KJV):Revelation 21:18 The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. :19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. (KJV) Isaiah 65:17 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered nor come to mind. (KJV)

What does it take to know the Lord Jesus Christ. You must accept Him as your personal savior. Act 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,:31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. (ESV) Repentance simply means to change direction. In other words, no longer follow after your own dictates and wishes, but follow after what God wants for you. If you make that decision, ask Jesus to forgive you & be part of your life. To be saved, you must believe. Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. :10 For one believes with his heart and is justified, and declares with his mouth and is saved. :11 The Scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will never be ashamed. (ISV) Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," (NIV)

Anyone refusing to accept Jesus as their savior will go to everlasting torment. Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime received thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. :27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou would send him to my father's house::28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. :29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. :30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. :31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (KJV) Hell is real, but it is dependant on accepting Jesus.

God is keeping record, and has a book that will reveal who goes to heaven and who will end up in the Lake of Fire. Revelation 19:1 I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God (KJV) 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (KJV) If you’ve never accepted Jesus as your Savior, do it now. Ask Him into your life.

2. ARE YOU GOING TO HEAVEN???

Have you ever thought about what happens to your life after you die? Many people think just because someone has been a good person, that God will take them to heaven. What do they have to base this assumption on? To assume according to Webster dictionary; To take what is fictitious; to pretend to possess. Do you want to base your eternal life on an assumption, somebody’s theory, or a speculation? God has given us His Word to base not only our eternal lives; but also our lives while we live here on earth. The truth is all written in the Bible. We have to choose to believe it or reject it. The Bible tells us in the Book of James 4:14 You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (ISV) Compared to eternity, our life is just one breath we breathe.

We should be looking for the answer, not from the wisdom of this world, but from one who has the answers for what is to come. In 1Corinthians 7:31; For the world in its present form is passing away. (ISV) And in 2 Corinthians 4:18 we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (KJV) 1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect (mature): yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought::7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory::8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (KJV) God has a desire to give us a good life, not only in this life, but in the one to come. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," (NIV)

God wants you to know Him in a personal way. His goodness toward us is beyond comprehension James 4:5 do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? :6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (NIV) We must not only be willing to believe in, and accept God at His Word (the Bible) but to do it His way (by faith) Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (KJV) The Bible gives us an example of Abraham and Sarah. Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. We are to seek the heavenly realm as Abraham and Sarah did. (KJV) The Bible tells us Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. :10 For one believes with his heart and is justified, and declares with his mouth and is saved.:11 The Scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will never be ashamed. (ISV)

You should learn more about God’s love and goodness. Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (KJV) In Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV) God wants to heal you in body, soul and spirit. He gives blessings today as He did 2000 years ago. Acts 10:38 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (KJV) Jesus said John 14:12 Indeed, I tell you the truth, the one believing on Me, the works which I do, that one shall do also, and greater than these he will do, because I go to My Father.; (LITV)

3. KINGDOM OF GOD

When the Scriptures talk about the kingdom of God, it is talking about a spiritual kingdom, not a physical kingdom. When Jesus was about to be crucified, He told Pilate, John 18:36 Jesus said in answer, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom was of this world, my disciples would have made a good fight to keep me out of the hands of the Jews: but my kingdom is not here.:37 Then Pilate said to him, Are you then a king? Jesus made answer, You say that I am a king. For this purpose was I given birth, and for this purpose I came into the world, that I might give witness to what is true. Every lover of what is true gives ear to my voice. (BBE) In order to access the kingdom of God, which is a heavenly kingdom, we must understand we have to do it with our spirit. 1Corinthians 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. :49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
