About this ebook

Joe Bloggs is a recovering alcoholic, having sufferered twenty five years of active alcoholism, coupled with a reliance upon opiate based prescription drugs, today he lives as a free man. No longer does he live within the nightmare of his hellish addictions. In this, his first book “From The Horses Mouth” he shares with the reader his story, along with the methods he has used to remain clean and sober for well over a decade. The addicts inability to resist the first drink or drug stems from obsessive and compulsive thinking patterns. Once the first drink or drug has been taken, the addict is totally powerless over taking the second, third and fourth until he reaches oblivion Joe's own personal experience has lead him to conclude that the problem originates in the addicts or alcoholics thinking. Therefore it is the afflicted lost souls thinking that must be changed.
Joe says, that if these methods have worked for him, then they will work for anybody. They can be successfully used to combat any type of addiction or self-destructive behaviour.
For the the price of a drink, this book may well save your life.

I was born in the dying years of the 1950,s, to a working class family in the North east of England. My childhood was a happy one and my early life was good.It was only when I discovered alcohol that I began to realise, that I was not as normal as I had first thought. Then, without rhyme or reason, over the following three decades, I turned into a full blown alcoholic. Once I took the first drink I simply could not stop, no matter what the consequences. Although I had the willpower to run several miles a day in all weathers, when it came to the booze I was totally powerless. This insane addiction subsequently drove me to near death and insanity .Then one day, enough was enough, I was sick of being sick. I was finished, I had hit rock bottom. The only way was up. It was only when given the gift of desperation that I had no other option but to seek out a solution for this insane addiction. That was the best part of twenty years ago and I have not found it necessary to take a drink since then. Having never written before, i felt compelled to share my story and the steps i take on a daily basis to remain clean and sober.my first e-book entitled “From The Horses Mouth” will hopefully be published in mid January 2015 .It will deal with the obsessive ,compulsive, thinking patterns that drive the addict to behave as he does ...

    Recovery from Alcoholism & Addiction

"Insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. — Albert Einstein

It is my intention to convey to the reader of this book, whether they are alcoholic, drug abuser or any other person afflicted by crippling addiction. The story of how having fallen into the morose pit of alcoholism, I managed to claw myself back into society.

Today I live a normal healthy lifestyle. Free from the chains of addiction which once bound me so tightly. It is also my hope that this book may be of some use to the families and loved ones of such afflicted people. No doubt they have exhausted their time, patience, tolerance and money in a disheartening bid to help their loved ones.

This is my own personal story of hell and recovery. If I can break free of these chains, I am convinced that you can do the same. For the cost of a drink, you can have the solution encompassed within this book .It is a guaranteed recipe for success if you follow its direction, most people in life fail due lack of perseverance.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born in the dying years of the nineteen fifties to a working class family in the North east of England. My childhood was a happy one and life was good. It was only when I discovered alcohol as a teenage boy that I began to realise that I was not as normal as I had first thought. Then over the following three decades I evolved into a full blown alcoholic. Once I took the first drink I simply could not stop, no matter what the consequences might be. Although I had the willpower to keep myself fit and run several miles a day in all weathers, when it came to the booze I was totally powerless. This insane addiction subsequently drove me to near death and the gates of insanity .Then one day, enough was enough, I was sick of being sick. I was finished, I had hit rock bottom. The only way was up. It was only then, when given the gift of desperation, I had no other option but to seek out a solution to these frightful addiction. Those events happened the best part of twenty years ago and I have not found it necessary to take a drink since then. Having never written before I felt compelled to share my story and the steps I take on a daily basis in order to remain clean and sober. My first e-book entitled From The Horses Mouth will hopefully be published in late January 2015 .It will address the obsessive, compulsive, thinking patterns that drive the alcoholic and addict to behave as he does time and time again. It is my Intention to convince you that these abnormal thoughts can be changed and therefore a change in reaction and behaviour is bound to follow.

    DEDICATION

Dwell not upon thy weariness, thy strength shall be according to the measure of thy desire.— Arab Proverb

To those I have hurt through my selfish behaviour. Today I am aware that I was indeed, a very sick individual. Although that is no excuse for my wrongdoings, I now realise that whilst I was not responsible for my actions, I certainly was accountable for them.

I have uttered the word sorry a thousand times. My words were just words, their repetition lost all sincerity. In recent years I have stopped telling you that I am sorry. Today I hope my actions show you that I am sorry. Just for today, I will try to show you that I am sorry by not taking a drink and doing my utmost to avoid hurting any other living soul.

I dedicate this book of hope and recovery, to my family and loved ones, past and present. Most still alive and some dearly departed. Without their unconditional love, patience and tolerance I would have almost certainly not survived to tell the tale .

There are so many wrongs that I can never fully right, but, if I can pass on my experience to any fellow sufferer or their family via this book, then this may go some way towards recompense for my past behaviours.

"The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish." —Pope John Paul II

    INTRODUCTION

I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one. —Mark Twain ; author, & wit (1835 – 1910)

The alcoholic takes a drink, once put into the system the same thing begins to occur. The mind and the body begin to recognise what has just happened. The mind relays signals to certain organs of the body, the liver and the pancreas. The enzyme production required to break down the alcohol begins. The alcohol is broken down into acetaldehyde, then to diabetic acid, and then to acetone. It seems that at the acetone level, the enzymes necessary to break it down from the acetone to the simple carbohydrate are not produced in the same qualities and quantities as they are in the body of the non-alcoholic. Therefore, the breakdown rate from the acetone to the simple carbohydrate occurs at a much slower pace and over a longer period of time. Acetone by its nature sets off a craving for more of the same when in the body...

Therefore it seems that the alcoholic is burdened with an almost impossible task of resisting the second, third and fourth drinks until he ends up drunk all over again.

The above information is a brief overview of how the alcoholic physically differs from the normal drinker. This description describes me perfectly. You may say to yourself, well why does he just not take the first drink then? Problem solved. To be honest, and speaking from personal experience, I have to tell you that it’s simply not as easy as that. Apart from the physical differences when compared to a so called
