Dinosaurs & Whiskey
An August Summers Adventure

Felix stared at the time machine in the backyard. I’m gonna kill him.
This wasn’t the first time August had stolen it from the Institute, or even the second. It was the third time, and judging from the way he’d landed it, he’d been drunk this time, too. The silver craft lay on its side in the grass and Felix noted with a bit of relief that the door was on the side facing up. He didn’t know what he’d do if it was on the other side. Grumbling in frustration, he marched over to the time machine. He had to get August sober enough to take the craft back before someone noticed it was gone. And before one of the neighbors saw. Stupid idiot hadn’t even turned on the cloaking.
He banged on the door. August! Open up.
Felix hoped he was hung over and the pounding was sending spikes of pain into his dumbass head.
After a long moment, the door opened. What’s the problem? Oh, hi Felix.
August squinted, alcohol fumes rolling off him. He had to hold onto the doorframe to keep from tumbling down the slanted floor.
Felix frowned. Not hung over, still drunk. Turn on the damn cloaking before someone sees this,
he hissed.
August rubbed his eyes and blinked. Where am I?
"In your backyard. Oh my God I’m gonna kill you." Felix shoved him out of the way and stepped into the time machine. He only understood a fraction of the buttons and gadgets in this thing, but after the last incident, he’d made August show him how to turn the cloaking on and off. He stumble-slid his way down the slanted floor to the pilot’s chair. He found the right switch and flipped it. There was a brief hum as the cloaking device engaged. It wasn’t perfect, but it meant that anyone looking wouldn’t see the craft unless
