      THIS JUST IN: BAD NEWS

      Paxton’s eyes flipped wide open. He sniffed the air like a wild animal. He knew that familiar scent—it was a scent he tracked all during the school year.

      Paxton jumped out of bed with a huge grin. He threw on some clothes and raced into the bathroom. He could barely contain his excitement as he brushed his teeth. Then he clambered down the stairs to the kitchen, smiling the whole way.
