Jack Hammersley
Poet, tailor, soldier, sailor is the best description for Jack Hammersley. Born in Australia, he is a proud father, freelance journalist, businessman, poet and adventurer and enjoys writing about his experiences and helping others by passing them on. At the age of three Jack packed his bags and left Sydney to live with his family in Ireland where he then grew up. Despite being accepted to read Law at Trinity College Dublin he decided to head out into the world and take his chances with the winds of fortune. He worked as Assistant Manager on a vast Scottish sporting estate, crewed on yachts in the Mediterranean; as a groom to thoroughbred racehorses, served in the British Army (Royal Irish Rangers) and over different periods of his career in both the real estate and international transport industries. His travels took him to live for many years in countries including Spain (where he lived in Barcelona in married bliss for seventeen years before the mirror cracked), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Dubai, Iraq and Australia. A year ago he began to write short tales and poems about his experiences in life. It goes back to his youth in Ireland, and perhaps was the delayed result of kissing the Blarney Stone at one time. He is a lover of life; passionate and ever curious about everyone, everything and every place on earth.
