I've Got A Wedding To Plan! - Patricia Stuart
Epilogue
Preface
I never realized that my organizational skills would parlay themselves into planning a wedding. I was always an organized person. From as far back as I can remember, any papers, books or important information were always filed away neatly where I could find them when needed. I never thought about what I was doing at the time. But those skills would be put to good use.
My only daughter was getting married, and she asked me to be her wedding planner. I was honored, to say the least! I didn’t waste any time. Had I ever planned a wedding before? No! Had I ever assisted in planning a wedding? No! So, how was I going to plan this one?
Planning someone’s wedding is a big job! There is so much to do with deadlines to meet! I knew, that before starting to do anything, I needed to sit down with the bride-to-be and listen to the vision she had for her wedding day. From there I would have a clear sense of how to direct her. Notice, I only mentioned the bride-to-be. Usually, the groom-to-be, will go along with anything that his fiancé wants. That’s not to say that he doesn’t have a clear sense of what he wants, but usually the wedding details are left up to the bride-to-be.
You don’t have to be a professional wedding planner to do the job, but you do need to have your organizational skills on point. You will have to deal with vendors, the wedding party, a cake designer and more. You also have to be able to get along with a variety of personality types. You will have to juggle the business aspect of the task while not taking yourself too seriously. Weddings are meant to be fun and exciting and enjoyable for all.
So if you’re interested in any aspect of ‘Event Planning’, you might find some of the suggestions in this book helpful and insightful. As you read this book you will notice suggestions given by myself, the wedding planner, as well as my daughter, the bride. Together, we will point out some of the situations we encountered in the process of planning. We will also share a few things that we learned in hindsight, that we could not have anticipated. There are things that you may not think of in the process of planning your event.
You can plan a wedding or an event that will fulfill your dreams or someone else’s! Enjoy the process, enjoy the journey and we wish you great success!
