About this ebook

“We cope with trauma in the most astounding of ways. Some of us cope by abstaining from what causes us to reminisce. Some cope by shutting themselves away from everything, that they might never encounter anything, ever again. I, however, dwell in trauma. I sit in the middle of my mind with a bottle of whiskey. That is my coping method, and this book is my therapy."

I write because as I bleed my heart on paper, slowly, miraculously, my heart itself is sowed up. This book is written by a real person who has experienced real things. I only hope that you will walk with me along my lane of memories beside me.

The Dopamine Chronicles - Michael Gustin

Captain Of My Soul

Captain of my soul? Oh, no, NO!

Don't tell me that you've been there with me

while the rapists try to rape me and the abusers

try to abuse me.

Don't TELL ME you were there

when I was floating in the Dead Sea,

merging with a river...Kalamath?

No, I remember it was CALAMITY.

See, I've tried so hard to believe with this faith

the size of a mustard seed, and no matter how

hard I try

IT DOESN'T SEEM AS IF YOU'VE DIED for me

In the dirt that is my skin, I've been planted with dead seeds

with drug seeds and plug seeds

plugging up the VALVES OF MY HEART

that try so hard to FEEL

WHAT.IS.FEELING when you've felt so locked up

its like the chains come down and the gates go up

Next in line at the cafeteria hall

the lunch lady says there's ONE MORE FALL

and with the weight of a PLANET

that tiny blunt fell on my plate

Oh, I've found a way! Oh, I can escape!

and that escape turned into hatred towards people

that I had thought said they were there to help.

YOU ARE UNSTABLE! as they prescribed another pill.

This living EUPHORIC MASQUARADE

was just my invitation to hell!
