Kristen struggled to keep herself in check.  It was her first day at her first job.  True, it was just an unpaid internship during the summer before she started college in the fall, but her enthusiasm and eagerness threatened to bubble out.

She stood next to her car and looked at the five story office building before her.  The internet company she now worked for was on the second floor.  It was five minutes to eight, and she was afraid she dressed all wrong for her first day.  Her new boss, Clay Black, said to wear jeans and a tee, but she wore a tank top.  Was that wrong?  She also wore her good butt jeans, and they were kinda snug.

I should've taken the summer off, she said, biting her lip.

Kristen enjoyed two weeks of freedom after graduating, before her school guidance councilor called with this opportunity.  Though the internship didn't pay anything, she would get a chance to see how a small business operated before she started college in the fall.  Since she intended to get a MBA, this was a golden opportunity.  Or would be if she didn't screw it up on the first day.

Her mind wandered back to what she could spend the summer doing.  Hanging with her friends.  How much fun would it be spending the summer down at the lake. Swimming.  Laughing and joking.  Nights around a bonfire.  And then she thought about what might happen around the bonfire, in the dark with boys like Bobby, Trace, and Kyle.  Heat rushed through her, and she had to fan herself.

I might be better off here, she thought.

Taking a deep, steadying breath, the blonde beauty headed for the front door.  She reached the elevator lobby just as the doors closed on a car full of workers.  But another opened a moment later, and she found herself alone as it closed and rose up.  Inside it was all mirrored, so she had another opportunity to fret over her clothes.  And her ponytail.  Was a ponytail appropriate for work?  And her big silver hoop earrings?

Oh my, she whispered, heart racing, when the elevator opened on the second floor.

She headed for the MegaDeal.com offices at the end of the hall.  From her meeting with the owner, Clay Black, she knew there were only five fulltime employees, counting him.

Kristen quickly opened the door and went inside, afraid if she paused she would chicken out.  Once inside, though, she had no idea what to do or where to go.  The door opened right into the main room, with ten cubicles.  The wall to the north was all floor to ceiling windows, and the south wall was lined with doors.  She knew one of the doors was the small break room, where she clocked in.  The boss's office was the far wall, with a single open door in it.
