Although born in England, Joanne spent her childhood in Canterbury, New Brunswick, Canada. Her father was a Canadian soldier and her mother, a nurse from County Mayo, Ireland, who met during WWII. Joanne now lives in Prince Edward Island with her husband Wayne and their two cats. She loves feeding the multitude of blue jays, juncos, squirrels and ravens that frequent her backyard. Listening to Celtic music, cooking, reading, writing and walking in the fresh country air are also important pastimes. Joanne mainly writes documentaries and true stories. The secrets of the mind, as well as the universe and the betterment of mankind, have always been important interests to her.

Chapter 1-The Shrine

The Saint Francis of Assisi Shrine, often referred to as the Skiff lake Shrine or the Shrine, is opened once a year on the second Sunday in August for what is locally known as Shrine Sunday. It is located outside the village of Canterbury, York Co., New Brunswick, Canada, on what is called the Upper Skiff Lake Road.
