Dedicated to the cherished memory of Anna Werdebach, my Great Aunt, who worked tirelessly in helping the Priests and Nuns in the early years of the Parish, and to my Parents, Jim and Betty Doyle, who continued that commitment throughout their lives.
As we approach the one hundredth anniversary of our Parish, it is time to look back, remember, and appreciate the remarkable journey of those who have, with Divine assistance, preserved this Parish for us.
The Parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was established by Dennis Dougherty, Archbishop of Philadelphia, on April 17, 1919, among the beautiful rolling hills in the farming community of Hilltown in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Edward and Anna duMee donated land for the Church and Rectory along with funds toward the cost of construction. The duMee’s owned property adjacent to the original Church, subsequently owned by the late John B. Murphy and now, sadly, part of the Quarry. Edward duMee, a wool merchant in Philadelphia, was a Papal
