Jake and Emma made their way toward the concert entrance. Emma’s mission was to sell her extra ticket before entering into the concert. They both figured that selling the ticket would be easy. After all, the concert had been sold out for weeks and all Emma was planning on asking for it was the price she had paid.

The sun had just set and it was turning into a beautiful summer’s evening. Emma walked to an area that was about 50 yards in front of the entrance and held up her ticket.

Jake pulled her arm down, Hold on, ticket scalping is illegal, so you don’t want to be obvious. If you throw your hand up with the ticket you’ll have cops over here in seconds.

She nodded naively as she stood there for a few minutes not doing anything. Finally, she turned to Jake and asked, Well then, what do I do?

He snickered as he explained. Just hold the one casually out in front of you. Make it clear that you have it, just not clear you’re trying to scalp it.

Got it, she replied and started casually waving her extra ticket around. Jake laughed to himself as she looked a bit robotic in her actions, but he didn’t have any better ideas so he just let her do her thing.

As she started fanning herself with the ticket an older guy in a Dave Matthews t-shirt walked up to her. Do you have an extra ticket for sale? he asked her quietly. She nodded affirmatively. How much do you want for it? he inquired.

For some reason Emma froze at the question, never before thinking that she could get any more than was printed on the ticket. Her brain worked quickly as she said, How much do you wanna pay?

The man, sounding annoyed said, Hey I just want a ticket, I don’t want to play ‘Let’s Make a Deal,’ and he started to walk away.

Wait, Emma panicked, I want $100 for it. The man stopped in his tracks, turned around and said to Emma in a very loud voice, Hold it right there. Place your hands behind your back! You’re under arrest!

Emma panicked as two uniformed police officers came out of nowhere, cuffed her and started dragged her down the path to their car. It happened so fast that she was stunned. She had no idea what was going on and as the two burly officers pulled her down the road, one of them read Emma her Miranda rights.
