Broken Eternity- Words form thought and prose - Travis Justice
about a spiraling descent
into a linear afterworlds were
I find, enshrined
on a throne of golden idols,
Nothing.
Decaying fertility wreathes
lie strewn
the broken crowns
of the fallen gods.
No.?
Instead should I write of sleep
dreams and nightmares coalesced?
Alas, 'tis the third chime
of the ante meridiem
and I must away to
Orpheus' tender embrace
to tarry in the hiatal garden
and walk its shaded paths.
Flights of timeless fancy
condensed moments
of splendid nightmares
and grotesque desire.
No.?
Or 'ere the whim were to
take a literary aim?
Would that I take to
wax efficaciously
of our First Father and Mother
in a Miltonian Paradise
or wane in the telling of a pilgrim's
trip to a Dantean Inferno.
Perhaps to list in lyric
form the authors I like the best,
Many is the writer who is confused
all fiction is a fantasy.
No.?
'Ere I shall write of, the tonal form,
music is of what I will speak.
Golden are the notes musicians make
silver are the simple chords,
all songs and singers,
gifted by that muse,
profess the Sirens' bidding,
and if both in one, why then Apollo they be.
But no musician do I be
instrument and song
are talents that I lack,
can you speak, of what speaks not to you?
No.?
Should instead I speak
of natures pastoral splendor?
Shinning dappled light
motley forest floor aglow,
birds sing a sympathetic symphony
for the spring and summers'
brightly glinting in the
tall green golden trees, for now.
Flora and fauna spread
in a diverse panoply
of colors and combinations
that one can only dream.
No.?
And what shall I on the topic of man,
no gender here, the homo sapien?
Fickle and felicitous is thee
who is said to be god’s image,
apex predator at heart
though frail adaptable,
this world their dominion
they are, at best, quixotic.
No.?
The I shall just right these fore-score lines,
No.?
Beating for You
How many beats does a broken heart get?
Nature's cry comes down
pitter pat
and cleanses the world.
How many tears does a rainfall make?
A heart, broken still beats
thump thump
and only whets the pieces.
How much damage can a shatter heart take?
A name echoing in the cambers
hello hello
rebounding off the crags.
How many beats do broken hearts get?
to see you gone to another
sigh sigh
a broken heart beats just once.
How many tears does a broken heart get?
enough to drown in sorrow
gulp gulp
but not enough to drown your name.
How much hurt can a broken heart take?
enough to last eternally
ahh ahh
How many beats does a broken heart get?
just one
calling out your name.
Music
The siren sings
As he strums
And picks.
The melody
And voice merge
And are one.
The words intertwine
The connection
Everything.
And I think
Of you, holding
Me tight in cold.
The siren sings
The words caress
The guitars body.
The musician
