    About the Author

    * * Introduction * *

    I used to lie on my bed at night, and wonder: is Heaven a real place? Where is Heaven? If I were to die, would I go to heaven? If I did, how long would it take to make the trip? Would I know my friends in Heaven? Would they know me? What would I look like? Would I have a body? Would I eat in heaven? Would I know my relatives who had gone to heaven? These and many other questions went through my mind; death and Heaven were mysterious to me.

    Throughout my ministry, I have learned that one of the greatest causes of sorrow, when a loved one dies, is a lack of knowledge concerning the dead.

    The Bible says in I Thessalonians 4:13, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. Here we learn that a lack of knowledge is the principal cause of sorrow when we lose our loved ones.

    In John 14:1-3 Jesus said, Let not your heart he troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also. He is preparing a literal place for believers where we will live with Him throughout all eternity!

    Because so many people have questions about death and Heaven, I wrote the little booklet Heaven - Bible Answers to the Most Often Asked Questions About Heaven. Thousands of copies have been circulated, but almost immediately people began asking for more and this book is the result.

    As I re-write and update this book I am reminded that no person on earth can ever exhaust the available resources or address every question man may have about Heaven, but in the midst of my heavy schedule, I have attempted to share some of the things God has revealed to me from His Blessed Word and through His blessed saints about our future home.

    I do not claim originality for the material you will find on the pages of this book. I can not even begin to name those who have shared and shaped my understanding of God's Word and His promises of Heaven over these past 45 years as a Christian. I am indebted to every Christian that has lived before me and especially to those preachers and saints of old - - who I have heard speak about the glories of Heaven.

    These pages were compiled from notes written in the margins and flyleaves of my Bibles, from sermon notes I have preached, and notes made from conversations and observations with others.

    The words to the songs and poetry used herein, I heard old preachers or Christians share during the course of my ministry. They stirred my heart and I wrote them down. I apologize for not knowing who actually penned (or shared) the words, but they speak for themselves.

    It is my hope and desire that this book will serve to warm the fires of your heart and stir the burning coals of Heaven's desire while being used of God both to comfort and encourage Christians and that it may be used to win souls to Jesus Christ. May God bless its use in your life!

    What Should You Do With This Book?

    First - enjoy it. Rejoice in its facts and Revel in its promises based upon the Word of God. The saints of old rejoiced as they talked about Heaven and we should too. It is our future home! They sang often about Heaven: and why not, the Bible tells us to Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20).We need to live daily with the realization that at any second we will be home - Oh what a glorious thought!

    Pray that God will make Heaven real to you. It is not far away. In Genesis 28:12 we learn that the angels come and go continually. In Hebrews 12:1 we learn that the
