Eat Pray Stay - LeeZa Donatella

    potential.

    Prelude

I first visited Abadiânia and John of God in 2003. Initially, I had heard very little about the work that John was doing in this small part of the world, but stumbled upon information while attending a meditation weekend given by my friend Gary in Sedona, AZ. The accountings the group gave of miracles was astounding and although it all sounded interesting, I had no intention of visiting. It was only when my friend asked me to go and help him with a project that I decided to get my visa as I packed up my white clothes and was ready to tackle the task of assisting another.

After arriving when I approached my friend each afternoon asking when work on his project would begin, but he kept putting me off. Only when I pressed him did he confess that he got me there on a pretense and that he had received divine guidance to get me to come to this sleepy little town. I myself was at a point of spiritual transformation as well as having a little known corneal disease, called keratoconus. I provide details about the change in my physical condition on this trip as well as my other amazing experiences toward the end of this book.

Years later, in 2014, I was at a crossroads of my spiritual development, ready to take the next leap and guided back to this sleepy little town, filled with the promise as I worked on ever increasing my consciousness and awareness.

It had been quite a while and I wasn’t sure if things were the same as I remembered, so I perused many websites to gather as much information as I could in the hopes of filling in the gaps. Unfortunately, the information was out of date and incomplete.

I write by profession and knew that I had to create a comprehensive guide to The Casa for the spiritual traveler. So I gathered up my traveling laptop, voice recorder, and digital camera to do my due diligence, research and document my latest experiences and in the months that I spent at the Casa de Dom Ignacio (The Casa).

So here it is, written from the perspective of a spiritualist, foodie and world traveler; 250+ pages providing a full explanation to help you determine if coming to Abadiânia to see John of God is right for you, the step-by-step process for The Casa, detailed information for over 25 local hotels including the number of rooms, currency accepted, internet, meal options, amenities, websites, and their distance from The Casa, local restaurant menus, travel requirements, all forms of transportation options, language, currency and exchange. I explain Abadiânia’s orb phenomenon and detail my supernatural, spiritual encounters and miracles.

This book will also help you determine if you should seek out and pay for professional guided services for your trip or go on your own.

Whether you decide to use a guide or travel to Abadiânia alone or with friends and loved ones, within these pages is the information to help you make great choices for a more enriched experience, with details that most guides are not aware of.

I have also posted many videos from Brazil on my John of God YouTube Channel so you can get a bird’s eye view. http://goo.gl/hiHdeo

My wish is it serves you well on your journey to healing, spiritual growth and awakening at the Casa de Dom Ignacio and that you enjoy your visit with John of God.

    Introduction

This book is divided into 4 sections.

Section 1 provides advice to help you decide if visiting Abadiânia and the healer known as John of God is right for you. It offers best practices for determining if you should use a guide or come on your own as well as logistics like travel and packing advice, immunization requirements and transportation.

Section 2 details Casa basics, protocols and processes and gives examples of ways to help others while you're in Abadiânia.

Section 3 delivers details for over 25 pousadas like price ranges, mapped locations, descriptions, number of rooms, meal options, internet, handicap accessibility, their distance from The Casa and more. It provides restaurant menus and other helpful information including interesting side trips.

Section 4 explains the spirits orbs photographed all around town as well as details my experiences and miracles.

    SECTION 1

    1

The Call to Experience the Casa

As I mentioned, I was initially guided here over a decade ago when I was at the forefront of spiritual transformation.

In early 2014 I returned with a desire to get to my next spiritual breakthrough. On this trip I spent almost 3 months in town and witnessed miraculous healings as well as my own personal healing and spiritual transformation.

You may be guided to The Casa for personal healing, spiritual growth or as a surrogate for a friend or loved one who is not able to make the journey.

Everyone’s call to visit The Casa (Casa de Dom Ignacio) is a personal one and no matter what has inspired you to find out more about The Casa know that that universal energy force, God, is telling you that you’re ready to discover more.

    Are You Able to Travel

Before we get into the meat of this book, I have to broach a sensitive subject dealing with your current health.

Please take a moment and ask yourself one question.

Am I well enough to travel?

If traveling is a risk for you, then you probably should not go to Abadiânia.

I’m not trying to frighten you but want to make sure that it’s addressed.

I’m not saying that people with terminal illnesses don’t visit John of God, they do all the time. Just please use common sense when it comes in determining if you are able to travel. Believe me, it’s no fun navigating the medical system in a foreign country when you don’t know the language and your insurance is not honored.

    2

    Deciding How Long to Stay

As with any journey, deciding how long to stay in a given location is paramount to knowing how to plan, pack and make arrangements. For me, the comic spiritualist, I always say that if I want to make God laugh, then just tell him your plans.

These days, I travel light with only a backpack and an overall idea of what I want to experience, booking accommodations only a few days in advance at a location and buying a one way ticket when I can. That way I’m never locked-in to a set plan and can take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that arise. For Brazil, however, you do need to purchase a roundtrip ticket to meet the visa requirements, so keep that in mind. And this book provides you with the detail you need to plan a great journey.

For those of you who are looking for spiritual enrichment and growth possibilities or healing, I highly recommend a minimum 2-3 week visit to Abadiânia.

If you do join a 2-week guided tour, most likely you’ll have to make your own travel arrangements, so if you want to stay more time, you can certainly do that on your own.

I was in Abadiânia for over a month on my first visit and almost 3 months when my journey led me back there in 2014. I was glad that I had the time to make that commitment.

If you plan on staying longer, feel blessed. It’s not often in our lives that we get an extended holiday from our daily routines. Most of us have families that depend on us for support. Remember that the time you spend in Abadiânia is for you, your health and spiritual wellbeing. Take the time you need for your body to be rejuvenated, your mind refreshed and soul cleansed. It’s an experience that you’ll take with you the rest of your life.

    3

    Should You Use a Guide

Okay, so your friend took you to a group meeting where someone who guides people to Abadiânia spoke. You liked what you heard and are interested in traveling to Abadiânia and spending time at The Casa and seeing John of God.

    That’s terrific.

It does not mean, however, that you have to use their services. You can choose to go with another guide or you can decide to go on your own.

I am neither abdicating nor endorsing either choice, because determining whether to use a guide is an individual decision. I just want you to be aware that it is not mandatory that you use a guide contrary to what you may have read on some website.

If you want to save money or have a little more control over your own experience by not following a set itinerary, then perhaps a guide is not for you.

Here’s a rule of thumb: If you’re traveling alone and require assistance getting around or you just feel more comfortable using the services of a guide, then absolutely, use a guide.

But before you choose one, please read the below section. It may save you in the long run.

    How to Choose a Guide

Below are guidelines if you decide that utilizing the services of a guide is something you wish to consider:

Search the internet for guide websites and read what they’re offering and compare prices. Most charge within the same range, but there are a select few that are excellent and offer much more for less money without sacrificing quality. I cannot personally promote guides in this book, although I met a few guides while in Abadiânia that were excellent.

Meet the guide, if you can. Some guides offer lectures discussing John of God. It allows you to determine if you gel with their personal style and personality.

Make sure that the guide you choose provides a detailed list of what they are including so you can get a general idea of how many hours they will spend with the group each day
