About this ebook
How does Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross save us? In his Space Age Christianity series, author V. J. Moore offers a scientific explanation for how the Lord’s Passion saved the human race. Rejecting all approaches that involve mysticism, the supernatural, or theories of theology, Moore’s analysis puts forward solid scientific answers in what he calls “Atonement Biology.” In volume one of the series, Crucifixion, he investigates “the Biology of Crucifixion.” His analysis provides answers to 1) Why Jesus died on the Cross sooner than Pilate expected; 2) How crucifixion killed its victims and why the cause of death in Jesus’ case was so significant biologically; 3) What purpose the Crucifixion served and how it accomplished its goal; 4) How being scourged and carrying His Cross helped the Lord bring about our salvation; and 5) Why probing the Lord’s Body with a spear produced blood and water and how that result bears witness to the truth. In the second part, Moore examines Saint Paul’s discussion of “the two bodies” and concludes that one body is based on breathing and is for the Earth, while the other body is based on photosynthesis and is for Heaven. He maintains that the Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection were an identifiable procedure to transform the body for Earth into a body for Heaven, and that the procedure can be understood in terms of modern science. Always firmly rooted in Scripture, Moore’s analysis heralds a revolutionary advance in understanding for the Christian believer of the 21st century. Includes over 40 illustrations.

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also bodies for Heaven, and bodies for Earth... So also is the resurrection of the dead... The first man was of the dust of the Earth, the second man was from Heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the Earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of Heaven. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man. (1 Corinthians 15:39-40,42, 47-49)

Introduction
Twenty-four years ago, when I first re-examined the Gospel, I set for myself three rules:
1. No mystical explanations
2. No supernatural explanations
3. No theological explanations
With these rules in place, I attempted to craft an account of the Gospel that a fair-minded agnostic or atheist might reasonably find persuasive. I hoped to phrase my account in terms of reason and science to make it accessible to someone who had been educated in rationalism and the scientific method.
Paradigms and Revolutions
Over the last 500 years, human thought has undergone a revolution in explanations. The revolution possesses all the earmarks of smaller revolutions in the sciences. Whenever a particular way of thinking (what Thomas Kuhn has called a paradigm
) encounters a sufficient number of contradictions by the real world, it gives way to a new paradigm—a new way of thinking. The paradigm shift from the old way of thinking to the new is called a revolution
in that field and usually involves a thorough-going change in perspective.
The best known example of such a revolution is the shift from Newtonian physics to Einsteinian physics. Einstein’s view of the universe transcends Newton’s, keeping the best of the Newtonian view while providing much needed answers in areas where even Newton’s genius did not reach.
But the revolution in explanations is larger than any one field of study. It encompasses them all. The old paradigm was characterized by explanations that included the mystical, the supernatural, and, in religion, the theological. The new paradigm rejects these elements, favoring instead reason, rationalism, logic, and the scientific method. The revolution in explanations reached astronomy in
