About this ebook

If Jimmy Wilson would have known what was waiting for him in the upstairs attic room, he would never have decided to make it into his own man cave. Scary things were about to happen.

While piling boxes in the rafters he noticed a couple boxes up near the attic vent.Someone, or something whispering his name stopped him from checking to see what was inside the boxes.

When his dad was helping him run cable to the room so he could watch TV, strange things began to happen. The boxes disappeared. When his dad left the boxes reappeared.

That was only the start of his problems. The terror began once he opened the boxes and discovered what was inside. And there was also an evil terror awaiting him that was even worse than what was in the boxes. Toy dolls and toy soldiers came to life. Which were evil? Which were good? Yet this was the least of his trouble.

This is a terror filled book that kids should love. It'll give you goosebumps.

    Haunted Attic - B.D. Knight

    Prologue

Shouldn’t we get rid of these boxes dad? asked Katy. They’re evil. Maybe burn them or take them to the dump or something?

If I thought we could without getting killed, we would, her dad said. It’s just too dangerous honey. And you shouldn’t be up here. We’ve already lost your mother.

    But whoever moves in here . . . they won’t know . . . It doesn’t seem right.

Her dad kneeled down and put his hand on her shoulder. She knew he was stressed out from what they had been going through but still.

"I taped the boxes up as well as I could. Maybe nothing will happen. You know what happened when I tried to take them out of the room. I’m sorry honey. I just don’t now what else to do.

She was scared. Not for herself anymore but for whoever bought the house. She thought her dad was brave. She never thought he’d do anything like this. Leaving these boxes full of evil for whoever moved into the house to deal with.

    I just don’t –

    He dad interrupted her.

I’m going to put these in the exact spot where we found them.

He crawled into the attic and she held her breath. It seemed like an eternity. He finally popped back through.

C’mon, he said. We have to go. I can’t lose you too. Let’s get out of here now.

    Chapter 1

Chances are if Jimmy Wilson had any idea the terror he was about to unleash, he would never have ventured to the attic room.

Jimmy jumped and banged his head on the slanted attic ceiling.

    Ouch.

He heard a noise in the attic. Thought it was a noise. Maybe the wind? A bird? He stopped and listened for another noise but it was silent.

They had been in the house for a year now and he had his own room downstairs but the attic room was lots bigger and his parents said if he cleaned it up he could sleep there if he wanted to.

Or he could just use it as a playroom. Why would they call it a playroom? It’s a man cave. It was a finished room with the side walls about three feet high and the ceiling slanting from the sides until it peaked. Get too close to the sides and you bang your head.

Musta just been a rat in the rafters.

He continued what he was doing. He had some tying rope and tied some of the boxes and used duct tape on others so he could shove them into the cubby hole doors cut into the walls. He’d put boxes in there now and start throwing stuff away later.

Jimmy, his mom hollered from downstairs. Amanda’s here.

Amanda was his next door neighbor and they always hung together. She was fourteen years old like he was and had short black hair and was cute, even though she dressed like a tomboy. They became best friends almost instantly when he moved into town.

    Send her upstairs, he said.

OK but you two keep the door open, his mom said.

Why does mom always say that?

Hey Jimmy, said Amanda. Whatcha doin?

    They both laughed.

Amanda, I know what we’re gonna do today.

Phineus and Ferb was obviously their favorite cartoon.

This room is huge, Amanda said. You going to sleep up here?

I don’t know. Maybe later. Right now I wanta clean it up and pack away these boxes. Dad said he’d run a cable line up here tonight and hook up the spare TV.

    Cool, she said.

Jimmy rubbed his head to see if there was a bump.

What’s wrong? Amanda asked. Did you hit your head?

Yeah. I jumped when I thought I heard something and banged my head on this stupid low ceiling.

Amanda backed up a little and tilted her head.

    What did you hear?

It was probably just a rat or something. I don’t know. But . . .

It was kind of weird and he didn’t know if he wanted to say anything that might scare her.

But what? she asked. I mean did it sound like a rat? Was it a scratching sound?

I don’t know. It sounded like someone was calling my name.

    Chapter 2

OK Jimmy. You’re creeping me out.

I know. It had to be my imagination. It sounded like a whisper. Anyway, you wanta help?

Maybe for a little while. I came over to see if you wanted to go bike riding. But if I see a rat I’m out of here.

Ha ha ha. Yeah, I’ll go bike riding. But first can you help me put some of these boxes in the storage area behind these walls? I’ll climb inside and you hand me the boxes. That way I can push them back into the middle and get them out of the way.

You won’t fall through the ceiling will you?

Nope. There’s a floor in there for storage. Whoever had the house before musta built it. There’s even plywood in the upper rafters so there’s lots of room for stuff. But the nails coming through the roof can hurt so you have to be careful.

I’m not going inside there anyway, said Amanda, I’ll just hand you the boxes.

He opened the door and crawled inside. It was dark but there was some light coming through a vent at the peak of the attic. Spider webs wrapped around his head and gave him
