About this ebook
The day Femi caught her first bounty she knew this was it; she found her place in the Abyss. However, one mistake, one act of kindness, one beautifully whispered lie could cost her everything--even her life.
Liz Schulte
Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more. When Liz isn’t writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.

THE BOOK IS LIGHT HEARTED and will make you smile both from the witty way she writes as well as the wonderful picture she paints.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL, fast paced book about a young girl and her girlfriends. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. The male character in the book sounds like a keeper, hope i see a lot of him in the next book.
THIS WAS THE FIRST Liz Schulte's book that I've read, and I've got to tell you it is amazing. The plot is extremely well thought-out. There are plenty of twists and turns leaving the reader glued to their e-reader. The characters are complex, especially Selene, and funny too. Ms. Schulte even includes cameo appearances of Olivia Martin and Holden from the Guardian Trilogy, and Femi from
Sweet Little Lies. Without a doubt this is one of the most exciting series I've read. Selene has issues, but she doesn't spent half of the book whining about them, nor does she find an easy fix to all of her problems.
IT'S BEEN A LONG time since I read a book I couldn't put down. This book was one of them. Except, I wasn't reading to get to the end and see how it all finished, I was reading to be absorbed into the world Liz Schulte created. I thought I would always be stuck reading books that I predicted endings of halfway through. This book kept me guessing right up until the end, and caused me to even audibly gasp out loud when a part was revealed.
I LAUGHED AND CRIED
I READ A LOT, so I don't really like to pay for books (free ones on amazon are fine by me) but after getting the first book for free I bought the rest immediately and devoured them like a giant piece of chocolate cake! This series is the first books I have ever paid for and I wish I could spend more money on them to get more books! Love love love this series and the writing style! More!!!
FEMI, YOU’VE ALREADY used three of your lives. Come home before you waste another.
My sister—the only family member who still talked to me—punctuated her plea with a loud sigh.
Come home for what? To wait for a war to break out and then not even be called upon? I’ll pass.
I walked down the streets of Chicago toward the Office, ready to cut off her lecture by hanging up. These weekly calls were irritating. Family or not, nobody had time for that.
It’s the way of our people—the way of our goddess. Doing what you are doing is blasphemous.
A couple ghouls up ahead made eye contact with me and promptly crossed to the other side of the street.
Do you even have an ally there?
My silence was answer enough for her. You don’t belong there. None of us do. Come home.
It wasn’t easy being a Sehkmet. First, barely anyone knew our race existed. Second, those who did know didn’t particularly like
