About this ebook
Few people can claim to have a perfect relationship (and those who do are probably hiding something). The romance between young lovers Chase and Ariel has had its fair share of set-backs too. There’s Chase’s notorious womanising, for one, not to mention an ex-girlfriend and her businessman father – a man with dubious connections to say the least – neither of whom you’d be advised to cross if you could help it. The fact that Ariel is mute can’t help either (she hasn’t spoken a word in her life, though doctors can’t figure out why).
But despite everything, Chase and Ariel are back on track. And Dilon – Chase’s closest friend since they were boys together at school – couldn’t be happier for them. So why have the police hauled Dilon in for questioning? What has Chase been up to now?

Tongue Tied
How far do you want me to go back exactly? I mean, if you want me to tell you about Chase Peterson, I got to start at the beginning. You know, when we were kids. Growing up.
The chair in the interview room is hard and uncomfortable; his back’s killing him. One of the overhead fluorescent strip lights is flickering. On. Off. On. Off. They do that on purpose. Put you on edge. Wind you up. Good and proper.
9.45am. It’s long past his breakfast time. Dilon doesn’t like feeling hungry. They’d left him sitting there, waiting, for almost two hours. Hasn’t had as much as a cup of tea yet. He likes proper tea. Orange pekoe at breakfast. Or perhaps a full-bodied Assam. Loose leaf, mind. None of your supermarket sawdust in those poxy little bags. What he wouldn’t give for
