Thank you LORD for giving me the will to want to change lives, and the gift of creativity. Whatever direction this book takes any young person who reads it, I give YOU the glory. Also, this book is dedicated to all the young people who were trying to find the meaning of life but gave up because, let’s be real, it took way too long. But seriously, this one is for all the ones who know they can be better than they were yesterday. And a special thank you to the two biggest inspirations for the book, Lady Alexis Chanel and Miss Chyna D. You really do have star power.

SHAREE AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

The young girl used whatever clean area of her hand she had left and the last decent spot of tissue to wipe the tears from her face. Sharee watched as she tried to pull herself together so that she could continue on with what she was trying to say. The poor child was sniffling so hard and wiping tears so fast that she could not get her words together. Sharee could not help but just stare at her face. Despite the fact that it was covered in tears and, other bodily fluids, it was still a pretty face. She just could not help but think back to when she was that young. She remembered when she could walk out the door without a bit of makeup on and still look picture perfect. She quickly let go of the days gone past and her unrecovered youth so that she could focus on her young friend again.

I just absolutely hate that punk, the poor girl managed.

This ball of tears seated next to her was her neighbor Kayla, a twelve year old with man troubles. She had wanted to see Sharee after school but found that her neighbor was not home. Not wanting to sit in her room and wait for the sound of someone coming down the hall, she had taken a seat on the floor and waited in front of Sharee’s door. Sharee had come in the building thinking that she was going to relax after a long day, only to find her aggravated and upset neighbor across the hall waiting for her. She was an absolute wreck because the little boy she liked made fun of her or something like that.

Sharee had to admit to herself that she was not paying too much attention because, for starters, Kayla spent too much time at her house going on and on about everything under the sun and that sort of earned her the nickname of annoying little neighbor girl. Not to mention she had the uncanny ability of showing up right when Sharee and her better half were trying to get cozy with each other. The second reason her mind kept wandering off is because she felt that Kayla was just a little too young to even have man troubles. Seriously?! Here was this kid getting all hysterical and beating herself up over some boy much like one of her adult friends would. Then she said something that almost made Sharee faint; or laugh, she was unable to tell.

I mean, I really thought he loved me, why would he do that?

Sharee was in the midst of fainting/laughing, when she realized that the girl was waiting for an answer. She managed to straighten herself and began patting the girl on the back.

    Hmmm, yea…well, so.

That was all she could think to say. But after about a minute of sitting there in the most awkward silence in history, she finally turned to the kid and asked,

You are all of what, nine years old, what makes you think you know what love is?

Kayla sat up and looked at her neighbor with shock and anger.

I’ve been through some things ok! My life has not been all fun and games. I’ve had to deal with some heavy stuff and I have a lot on my plate. I have school, my parents, and my man.

She went on about some other things, but by that time Sharee was no longer holding back the laughter so she did not hear the rest of it.

Child really! You have no job, no bills, no boss, no REAL man, and no real issues compared to someone my age.

You see’, she said as she stood up, ‘all you freak’n adults are totally the same. You swear because we’re not as OLD as you, we don’t deal with life too!

Sharee pulled herself up off the floor and faced her hysterical neighbor. The young girl folded her arms, dropped her head, and shifted her eyes somewhere towards the street. She realized she was out of line and knew Sharee was not above choking kids (not literally). The thirty one year old (who could easily pass for 21) looked at her
