    INTRODUCTION

She slid her hand across his and sighed. Just the look in her eyes gave away exactly what she was thinking about. Would he dare? She knew that she was ready to try her luck on love again, but she was still slightly scorn from trying to give her heart and soul to someone once before. The one whom she tried so hard to make love her never had been willing to receive the part of her that was truly at the core of making her special. She had already been hurt a time before, but the look in his eyes made her believe that it could all be different this time. The harsh reality was, she was only seventeen and he twenty-one. The first time he saw her she was merely walking out of the bank. With short cut-off fringed shorts and a cute, youthful, tight fitting T-shirt on. She looked like a sweet angel in country heaven. Her hair was long, down to her waist, and shimmering in the sunlight. It was as golden blonde as the sun was bright, with darker lowlights in and out. Her eyes were expressive with a brightness that made her look carefree and happy. She was good at putting on her happy face, whether it was real or not was a different story. People liked her for her ability to play happy all the time.

She was relatively toned but with soft roundness and curves in all the right places, slimmer through the waistline, which came in just right and flowed back out sweetly, giving her the shape that a women should have by their later teenage years. Her hips were relatively full and her buttocks, thick and round. She wasn’t skinny. She looked athletic.

Later she would learn that he had turned to his cousin and said, Man, what I’d like to do to that. He himself wouldn’t know until later that she was only seventeen, but would it really matter if he ever had the chance to be with her? Only time would tell. For at that time they were both with other people, neither of them happy or fulfilled in any way shape or form. The day they would finally meet and she would notice him just like he had noticed her on the street one day… at a house party for New Year’s Eve another. It was obvious that she wanted nothing more than for him to notice her. Little did she know… he had already noticed.

    THEY MEET

Hey, it’s your turn, are you going to shoot or not?

His buddy barked when Kyle didn’t shoot on his turn during their game of Pool.

    Yeah, sorry… I was just…

Trent looked over and saw what Kyle’s loss of concentration was about. There she was… Shyla, in a short denim skirt and tight fitting shirt, once again with her long blonde hair flowing down her waist.

    Damn she’s hot. Kyle whispered.

Yeah, she is. If I wasn’t already with Cassie, I’d go after her. Trent followed.

There was one more intrigued young man there to put his two cents in. Hey dude you better get in line. He said sarcastically.

Ya think… I think the line starts here. Kyle retorted with equal sarcasm.

She made her way to the bar to order a drink, which giving her age would be a simple Pepsi. She had to wait only a few minutes due to the fact that the bartender was playing pool. When Kyle had made his way behind the bar, Shyla had to swallow hard to get the small question out clearly enough for him to hear her.

Hey, can I get a Pepsi? She said with a shy flirtatious voice.

Yeah, you want that on the rocks? He asked with orneriness in his voice.

    Ha, you’re funny.

If she had seen a flame, she would have thought that she was on fire for the heat filling her face. She was already nervous to be around him and she had barely spoken to him. He tried his damndest to stay cool and strutted around behind the bar like a rooster in the hen house. Every move he made made her quiver. He was big from his head to his feet with thick, black, wavy hair, dark brown eyes that looked like chocolate tootsie pops, and his chest had the sexiest dip in it she had ever seen. The way his pecks shown threw his shirt was just mesmerizing. His arms were thick and strong and his legs were like tree trunks. His smile was cocky and antagonizing. The way he pulled the left side of his mouth up into a cocky shit-eaten grin could either piss you off or turn you on. His big hands looked as though they could crush anything they came into contact with and the roughness of them said they had from time to time. To her, he was hot. She thought of him as a mix of Keanu Reeves and Tim McGraw, only bigger and more muscular, but with a boyishness in his face that came from the smoothness of his unblemished skin, and the thin boyish mustache across his top lip. Then there was the softness in his eyes, of which he tried to hide by raising his right eyebrow as he strutted around, giving him a "don’t mess with me" look.

Boy, what I’d do to you. She thought to herself.

Then it was on. She was going to win this man for herself. The only problem was, she had a boyfriend and he had a girlfriend.

I don’t really see a problem getting rid of her. That girl isn’t right for him and I know I could make him see that if I had the chance. Not to mention, I think I’m cuter than she is… well maybe.

She had seen the two of them together a few times and needless to say, she wasn’t impressed with her. She finally mustered up the nerve and decided to ask him if he wanted to play a game of Pool. He happily said yes.

Just so you know I’m not very good. She said shyly.

    That’s Okay, I’m not either.

Obviously knowing that he had just lied to her, he headed for the table. He spent a lot of time making sure he was able to prove to anyone willing that he was good at just about anything he did and that definitely was true when it came to playing any kind of game.

    You rack’em, I’ll break’em. He told her.

During this process she made all the right moves. Bending over the table and letting her cleavage show as she went after a ball that went astray, flipping her hair to the side, when so slightly it draped across her cheek. She wasn’t trying to look slutty, just sexy enough to grab all of his attention. It was already working. He could feel his heart start to thump in his chest and every now and then he could feel a pulsating in his southern region that made his shy nature very uncomfortable. How was he going to handle this? He knew he had a girlfriend but he also knew he didn’t love her. He had been looking for a way to end it with her for a while now.

This could be as good a reason as any. I want to be with this girl. He thought to himself.

A little over a week had passed and Shyla had been in the bar every night. Each night she was there was just a step closer to what she strived to achieve. She was already smitten with him and all she wanted was for him to feel the same. Every move she made was in efforts to accomplish this. She always made sure when she dressed and did her hair and makeup that it was done to impress; to impress him. To some people she would appear vain, but to her, she just wanted to be beautiful for him. She talked to him as much as she could about the ways of her heart, trying with every detail not to scare him away. She hadn’t been ridiculous enough to tell him she loved him or anything, but with her emotions going wild, she worried that she wouldn’t be able to hold back too much longer. She wasn’t sure if pure love was what she was feeling already, but to sum up her complete overload of feelings that was what she chose to call it in her own mind. Kyle was all she could think about anymore. He was all she wanted. Exactly why, she wasn’t completely sure of yet. Well she could just look at him and then the "why" could be thrown out the window. All she did know for sure was that she wanted him to want her too.

When Shyla and her friend Katie had made it to the bar after school, Kyle was going through a box of T-shirts. She went up to him and for the first time she didn’t feel completely uneasy about talking to him first.

Hey, what’s up? She asked confidently.

Not much, just going through these shirts to hang up and sell.

I see. Which one of these do you think would look good on me? Shyla asked.

Any of them would look good on you.

This surprised Shyla, due to the fact that she wasn’t dressed in her usual cutesy attire. She was wearing a simple T-shirt that she had borrowed from Katie. It was red and advertised Lucky Charms cereal.

Well, thanks, you too and by the way… I hope you don’t mind me looking at your chest. You’ve got nice pecs. She said bravely.

No, not at all… not as long as you don’t mind me looking at yours. He said, not so bravely.

With that he paused and then said with disbelieve in his voice, as if he could not believe he had just said what he had.

I think I better go back behind the bar now. He walked away to go behind the bar and was getting redder with each step.

As Shyla and Katie walked up to the bar, saying "Hi" to everyone they knew, which was pretty much everyone considering the small size of the town and this being about the only available hang out spot to people of all ages. Shyla couldn’t help but look over at Kyle the whole way with a very come hitherly stare. When they got up to the bar and realized there weren’t too many people in that were actually drinking, the three of them decided to play a game of pool. They rounded up another person so they could play partners. Kyle and Shyla were on the same team and after about twenty minutes had won the game. Kyle had been a little more flirtatious than usual during this game and tried to convince Shyla and everyone else the only reason they had won was because of Shyla’s shirt. He then started calling her his lucky charm. It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever called her up to that point in her life. She loved it. After the game, Kyle asked the girls if they were hungry and they both agreed they were.

I made taco salads for the special today. Do you guys want one?

Sure, I’ll have one. Katie said.

I’ll have one too, with extra salsa… if you don’t mind? Shyla followed.

After they had eaten, this took Katie about five minutes and Shyla almost twenty. (Shyla was always a slow eater and Katie barely tasted anything she ate). They decided to go ride around for awhile. Business had picked up and Kyle didn’t have much time to stand and chit chat with them anyway.

Hey, we’ll be back. We’re gonna go ride around for a little bit. Shyla explained to him.

Okay. I’ll be here. I’m waiting for Sheryl to get here. She’s been suppose to come down for three days and I haven’t seen her. She’s been out partying with god knows who all.

Shyla started to feel pretty guilty at that point about trying to get him to want to be with her.

What if he really does love her? I need to leave him alone She thought to herself.

Even though her heart had just sunk and landed with a thud at the tips of her toes, she decided it was best to cover it up with a chipper response.

Okay, we’ll see you later then.

Katie followed behind her and they got into Shyla’s car.

Do you think he likes me, Katie? Shyla asked.

Well, it’s kind of obvious, don’t you think? Katie said sarcastically.

I don’t know. He still seems to want to work things out with Sheryl.

"Yeah, but he’s not happy with her and she doesn’t seem to give a shit about his feelings, like at all. She never comes down to see him and she does whatever the hell she wants with whomever she wants. Maybe she doesn’t really want to be with him anymore. Even though he’s the best guy she’s ever gonna get." Katie explained encouragingly.

Wait a minute. I think that’s her car.

It didn’t take long to realize that it was Sheryl’s car.

    "Yep it is.
