Almost the entire month of July went by without me calling Blake. I had come to the conclusion that I was biting off more than I could chew. Not that I hadn’t enjoyed it, but it was all too much too quickly. I avoided going to the bar that he worked at or even walking down that street. It was a bit of a pain, but in some ways, it was still easier to just walk the extra block to catch a cable car.

Over the course of that month, I went out on a few random dates. One guy had asked me out when I was shopping at the health food store in the marina. Another I had met while taking one of the city walk tours. They were both nice, if a little boring. But the last one showed more promise.

His name was Paul. He was tall, hunky, and had traveled the world—in fact, he owned his own travel agency. After a spectacular dinner and a romantic walk down by the marina, I decided that I was going to invite him in.
