About this ebook
When Jarrod Grant was fourteen years old, he watched helplessly as a troll-like creature emerged from a portal in his bedroom and abducted both his mother, and his younger brother. He spent years brooding over the fact that they were gone, but during his senior year of high school, two very special girls would change everything.
Tina and Sarah, made it their mission to find him some answers about what had happened to his family. Their research led them to a woman named Patricia Samuels, who gave them far more answers than they'd bargained for. Not only was she able to tell them what happened to Jarrod's family, but she also provided them with something far more valuable.
Through her research, she was able to locate the only person who'd ever returned after being abducted. That man provided her with notebooks full of information about his time as a slave in another dimension, and he also provided her with something she hadn't dared to hope for. He gave her the amulet he'd used to get back home. An amulet that was capable of opening portals to five different dimensions, including the one where Jarrod's family were being held in slavery, along with many others.
With this ability now in hand, they set off on their first forays into the Faranox dimension with the goal of securing an amulet for each member of the team, after which, the planning and execution of the rescue mission will finally commence.
Duane L. Martin
An avid reader since he first discovered the Hardy Boys books in the second grade, Duane L. Martin spent years being educated by some truly great authors. In 2013, after years of dreaming about writing a novel of his own, he finally hit upon a story idea that would ultimately turn into the 22 book Unseen Things series. Currently, aside from the series, he's also published two standalone novels. Cindy's Story, which is a humorous private investigator novel, and a superhero story called The Accidental Hero, which is both humorous, and quite dark at times.Aside from his writing, Duane is also a musician. He took his first bass guitar lesson in 1987 and has been playing bass ever since. He also plays some guitar, and a little keyboard and some percussion as well, with a particular focus on hand drums. As he's always been a great lover of music, he often has it playing quietly in the background while he writes.Born and raised in Northern California, he would later move to Idaho, where he lives the quiet life of a relative hermit with his wife Sharon, and their two dogs.

Reviews for The Hunt

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5POSSIBLE SPOILERS below. This was an interesting, and generally well-written 'murder mystery.' I put the genre in quotes like that since I don't really think of it as a mystery where the reader could collect clues to solve whodunit. That characters are interesting, albeit slightly underdeveloped. The resulution has a deus ex machina quality to it leaving the reader slighly unsatisfied. Even the murderer's motivations feel rather contrived and hollow when you get to them. The glimpse into the "tweedy moneyed hunting set" is moderately interesting, but doesn't really get much below the skin and really serves little purpose to advance the plot. The author includes a preface to defend hunt club people as being really nice and not at all like in the book, so then why does her novel write tehm right back into their stereotypes? The best part of the book--and actauly quite intriguing--was how the protagonist's situations led to suspicion and how circumstantial evidence could appear so damning, when the reader knew better than the police. That part was actually rather chilling, especially in light of a cop with an axe to grind and a shortage of objectivity. The role of the media was briefly explored, but left to meander and again die without making a profound observation. This book could have been better, but really seemed like the author had a different goal than writing a good mystery.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was hesitant to read this book based upon a few reviews I read. I am glad that I overlooked those reviews and read the book. I read it in two days, it was a fast paced, suspenseful story with I must admit, the typical ending...BUT I really enjoyed it!
