Intro

All she wanted was an autograph.

He was an actor who’d starred as a doctor on a very popular TV show years ago, back when cable channels numbered under a hundred rather than in the thousands, and before the prevalence of DVRs made appointment television a quaint anachronism. Pictures of him and his co-star were plastered on the covers of numerous teeny-bopper fan magazines, and public appearances drew crowds of screaming girls who became giddy at the mere sight of them.

Now, older and more mature, he was still handsome, but for the past dozen years he’d limited his TV appearances to occasional guest-starring roles, and most of his public appearances were in the non-profit arena. Years spent portraying an offbeat medic led to a lifelong interest in some very worthy causes, for which he regularly appeared as a motivational speaker.

Which was what brought him here, to a medical-industry gathering.

What brought her here was the autograph-signing session that had been scheduled for him during the conference.

She’d
