When he awoke he saw lights and monitors and tubes. The tube down his throat tasted of formaldehyde and vomit. He couldn’t move.

And pain. He had forgotten how sharp, how inescapable it could feel.

At first he didn’t know who he was or how he had gotten there, but then a burst of memory hit him and he realized he had to tell someone why he had come back. In panic he managed to rip the tubes out of his arms before he was restrained and strapped down.
