Introduction

Baby Boomers rule! We are that select group of people that were born between 1946 and 1964. There are approximately 76 million of us and yes, the majority of us are still wearing blue jeans.

We were the first generation to grow up in blue jeans and we are still the fastest growing group that continues to buy them.

The Baby Boomer generation is sometimes subdivided into two parts, one group includes those born in 1946 to 1953 and those born from 1954 to 1964. Recently the older boomers have been referred to as the Golden Boomers.

I was born on a snowy night two days after Christmas in 1946 so I definitely can claim being one of the Golden Boomers. Growing up as a Baby Boomer, I think a lot of subjects deserve to have mention as I will do in this book. My views and lifestyles may different dramatically from those that were born at the tail end, as I was a teenager in the sixties and there were a lot of events that made a lasting imprint. I have included many of my personal experiences as a small town girl as well as those of some of my city friends.

So get ready for some humor and enjoy the ride.

In 1946, when I was born, my Mom stayed in the hospital for 7 days and the bill was $51.00. I was kind of a cheap kid. Didn’t cost much by today’s standards to have me but I am sure I cost my parents plenty through the years.
