About this ebook
Days passed and after the incident, never in his life Mahadevan met his old Physics teacher. Mahadevan completed his MBA with high distinction. A very good student in financial analysis and risk management could never find a job other than teaching. What more to say, even though very good in teaching, Mahadevan was never content in his profession. A curse that he carried for these long twenty four years.
Curse, it’s not just a term that restricts to one person or a community. It hunts everyone, everyone and everything that lives on earth and under water. Mistakes are human nature. Sin is man’s companion, for a new born baby and for an old man taking his last breath. Four stories, they narrate four punishing sins, and the culprits who are vulnerable to ‘The Ordeal’. Pain and sorrow are its aftermath, and death is not just an end to everything.

Chapter 1: The Ordeal
An old umbrella folded neatly in his left hand, and one not much heavy carton in his right hand, he walked slowly through the alley. A few students murmured at him while a few came forward to offer him help. He did not accept anyone’s help, but surely returned a sweet smile to everyone who approached him.
Mahadevan, a professor who taught finance papers for MBA students in Forman’s School of Business, was renowned as an excellent teacher among the students. While he walked out of the school with no regrets or stress on his face, no one would ever think that the man was quitting his 13th job during his 20 years of career.
Sir, why do you wish to leave the job? It was very nice to attend your classes.
Suraj, a final semester MBA student, was one among the many who adored his classes.
My dear boy, haven’t you studied the famous poem written by Robert Frost?
He glanced at the young man and continued.
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."
But sir you could at least stay till we finish our course.
