Prologue

Some nights are really haunting. Minutes pass like hours and hours like days. Sometimes situation is just not in our own hands. Maybe this is the time we realize the existence of god. People are praying to the god. And in one corner a 21 year old boy is sitting on a chair in the waiting area. His eyes full of tears, swiping some photographs of him with a girl and every time he saw those pictures more tears rolled down his cheeks. He tries to sleep but, her face is all he could see when he closes his eyes. A surd is also sitting on a chair right beside him. He too, is quite sad. The doctors, coming in and out of the operation theatre are trying their best. But the boy is caught in his own world and his own memories. The best memories of his life. Those golden days, are taking him back into the past and here he is swinging in the tornado of the flashback.

THE DAY OF ADMISSION

Even after you score more than 90 per you don’t get a college of your choice. That’s Delhi University for you. With the cut offs rising more than the sensex of the nation you are lucky enough if you get a course of your choice, forget about the college. Those were Ayush’s father’s words after knowing he was getting an admission in B.Com(H) in SGND Khalsa College.  But dad it’s a Khalsa college how will I come up with so many sardars ek karanvir to handle hota nahin itne sare sardaro ko kaise jhelunga".

"O come on, Sikhs are the best community of this country. They are helpful , have a jolly nature , are the first one to help someone who is in danger. I know they are just a little too senty but other than that they are just the perfect people. Its important to secure a seat in Delhi University. So get ready we are going to the college today itself.

The first look at the college

Haan yeh B.L Kapur wali road seedha ja kar teesre cut se right ho jana vahan seedhe haath pe hi hain college. Those were the instructions by the auto driver when Ayush father asked him for the directions of the college. And in another two minutes they were standing right in front of the college gate. Dad I think this is the building of Khalsa school not the Khalsa college Iska to campus hi nahin hain, said a confused Ayush. His dad’s reply was the most common one agar beta campus wala college chaiye tha to thode aur marks le aate and don’t worry when you will get your degree the name of the college would not be there."

Soon, they were standing in the line where the forms were being submitted. There he saw a girl wearing a red Kurti and a white Salwar with minimum makeup. She was also standing there with her mom with all her documents. But Ayush was unable to remove his gaze from her. She looked at Ayush with her big eyes and nodded her head. Ayush’s father was watching all of this. He poked him and said ab to tujhe SGND acha lag raha hoga kyun beta sahi keh raha hoon na main. Ayush just smiled and after completing off all the necessary formalities regarding the admission, left the college premises. He had that one last look at her as she was submitting the admission fees.  Yes she is beautiful Ayush thought and wished that she was also in the same course as him. He later got to know that Karanvir had also taken admission in SGND as well. There is no better feeling than realizing the fact that your school best friend is also in the same college. There is a feeling that there is at least one friend in the college already, even before going to the college.
