    Elfspell - Leila Bryce Sin

    Elfspell

Chapter Three in the Taryn Malloy Fantasies

    Copyright 2001 Leila Bryce Sin

    Smashwords Edition

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents either are the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, business establishments, events or locales is entirely coincidental.

I was sitting in Andre the vampire’s office. I could hear the beat of the music from the club pulsing through the walls around me, reverberating through the chair under me. I was surprised to find out his office was on the top floor of the building, only accessible through the rooftop patio. At least, that’s how it looked; I was sure there were some secret panels and passageways in here. But I had expected his office to be in the basement to be perfectly honest, hidden from sight and protected from light. Instead, two walls were made of floor to ceiling windows, meeting at the corner, giving a sweeping view of the city. Now I knew that first night I had seen Andre sitting in the shadows of the rooftop patio, he had been sitting outside his office, getting some fresh air.

At the time, I didn’t know he owned this club; I didn’t find that out until a couple of days ago when I was helping to tear apart one of his manager’s interior offices. I had come here about a week ago with my best friend and fellow Bright Elf, Roxy, to try and get over a break up. Our magic was empowered by life giving forces like lust and sex and I had wallowed in my grief long enough to deplete my stores of magic. Roxy brought me to this club, which catered to the carnal needs of the Fae community, to help me get over Cillian and restore my power. It had definitely worked, but I had taken home a souvenir – a Hunter’s bite – which had me elfstruck. The bite created an insatiable lust and, if ignored, would take over my body and I would black out. It also left me vulnerable to bend to the will of the Hunter who bit me. After the first black out, I had woken up in my bed with a stranger who I had been having my way with for nearly two days. Luckily I had brought home an honest and very helpful human man named Daniel.

Unfortunately, Daniel was a fighter and had to leave today for training for his next big fight. Daniel had been helping me try to track down any witch I could find, looking for one that knew the spell to break the bond of the Hunter’s bite. But because witches had assimilated for the most part into human society, helping law enforcement police the Fae community, they were less than trusting of anyone not human. They had ostracized their race from our community by creating collars for the police. Most Fae and magical creatures are too strong for the simple metal cuffs and plastic zip ties used to shackle humans under arrest, so witches had designed a collar that rendered our magic and strength useless. Needless to say, the Fae community didn’t take too kindly to this betrayal. Now I was looking for a witch to help me and it was proving a much harder task than I thought it would be.

So far I had had a couple of doors slammed in my face, crows set on me, itching powder and forget me powder blown in my face, and threatened with boils and sores. It had been a long ass week so far. Now that Daniel was out of reach, I knew I needed to act fast to get this bite removed. The night I had met Daniel, he had rescued me from being kidnapped by a couple of trolls, not that I remembered any of that. But apparently I had taken him home, ripped his clothes off, and had my way with him for nearly two days. I shudder to think what I would’ve done with giant trolls in that state. The thought sent a shiver of fear through my body. I needed to get this bite removed before I had another blackout and ended up with gods know who.

I stood up and walked around the desk to the bank of windows and looked over the city. There was a full yellow moon hanging low in the inky sky over the buildings. The lights of so many structures leached out the stars twinkling overhead. I could see my reflection faintly in the window pane. I fussed with my long blond hair, tossing it over my shoulder and checking my eye make up. My grey eyes looked ghostly in the dark window. I tugged at the hem of my shirt. It was deep purple with a plunging neckline accenting my cleavage, but it covered the bite on my shoulder. I turned and checked the back of my leather skirt,
