"Um... Jase? Wh-which one?" Alex whispers, peeking around the aisle.

"Just look for one that's silicone-based. The water-based ones suck."

We couldn't be a more mismatched pair. My shirt's open, but if someone's planning on taking a peek I'd have to turn just the right way for the folds of light silk to swish apart. Even then I'm wearing a tight tanktop, form-fitting and giving only hints of the lean musculature underneath. Alex here is in his loose hoodie and baggy jeans. They're tailor-made of course, hardly the kind you'd get at the mall. I'm aware of how ridiculous that sounds, shelling out two hundred bucks for a fucking hoodie. Still, it's soft and fluffy and fitted just right, and it accentuates his lithe boyishness in a subtle way that nothing else could match.

"Can't... can't you just get one for me? Or just lemme use some of yours?"

"Hey, you gotta learn how to do this on your own eventually." A smirk twitches at my lips. Man, was I ever this shy?

"This is embarrassing..." he grumbles. "How's this one?"

I give him one of those are-you-kidding-me looks when he holds up an eighteen-ounce bottle of lube.

"Seriously, man? You gonna carry that in your back pocket when you're working the streets?"

He looks mortified when a middle-aged lady walks down the aisle with a handbasket full of one-pint tubs of ice cream and a few dishrags. She glances at Alex with the bottle of lube in his hand and purses her lips, amusement glittering in her eyes. Without hesitation she plucks a pink bottle from the shelf, tosses it in her shopping basket, and walks off.

Damn. Someone's gonna have a wild time tonight.

"...Self-warming okay?"

"The best. And don't forget the condoms."
