About this ebook
Synopsis
In the name of citizen security, The Powers That Be have walled off the city into separate zones.
Trapped in the lowest sphere, The Pleasure Zone, Nika Savage and her one true love, Rachael Cozy, begin their adventure on Election Day, a travesty of a ritual preserved for the sake of keeping the ignorant masses pacified.
Rachael Cozy is tough and uncompromising, and while she loves Nika, if it means advancing her career, she is willing to abandon their relationship.
Entering into this dangerous battle of wills is Mr. Hater, a technical geek who has better control over mechanical circuitry than he does his own synapses.
Although Nika sheds her slave name and retakes her true identity, she is still locked in a love & hate relationship with Rachael, and they take turns hurting each other by having casual affairs.
In the round-robin emotional wounding that ensues, Rachael Cozy decides she has had enough, and escapes the zone in an attempt to better her life by seducing a rich and powerful couple.
Her ambition is thwarted by the grim realization that she will never be able to transcend the caste system.
When they reunite, Rachael has taught Nika to be strong, yet she has also taught her much amiss.
Nika becomes too adept at the game of emotional scarring, and when she goes too far, Rachael pulls away, seemingly for good, becoming a ‘goner’, a euphemism for a person who disappears without a trace, an all too common occurrence in this corrupt police state.
Nika learns that you can’t hurt the one you love without ripping yourself apart in the process, and with the help of Mr. Hater, resolves to go in search of the lost Rachael, in order to heal all three of them.
A grand adventure ensues, which takes Nika and Hater across several zones. Separated from Hater during a demonstration and riot, she arrives at the Golden Tower where she believes she will find Rachael.
The climax ensues as NIka confronts the Powers That Be.
