Chapter 1. Branwing is Unhappy

Branwing sometimes felt a little bit lonely. He lived in the Ghostly Ghastly House with his friends, the five ghostly Ghastlys and the three skeletons. Branwing was the only vampire.

He was also a vegetarian.

He could change from a bat to a person and back to a bat. When he was a bat hanging upside down, he got a funny fuzzy feeling. It was out of that wrong-way-up funny fuzzy feeling that his best ideas came.

One evening, after a large meal, he was hanging upside down from the curtain rail in the long room of the Ghostly Ghastly House. His tummy made gurgling, grungy noises. He was very full from eating a great many tomatoes, not to mention a side order of red onions. He was just about to slip into a light snooze,
