About this ebook

Being a preacher isn't easy. It requires commitment and a firm resolve to live life as God calls us. In The Prophetic Purpose of Preaching: Releasing the Sound of Heaven in the Earth, Pastor Bernard Boulton shares not only wisdom he has gained through his 30 years of experience as a preacher, but revelation from God and His Word.

Drawing upon the life of Paul, Apostle Boulton talks about the prophetic purpose of God's call upon your life, the opposition you'll face, the tests you'll endure and the principles you'll need to follow to finish the job well.

    Introduction

This book has been birthed through prayer and a sincere desire to bring forth this word as I was led by the Holy Spirit.

I count it a great privilege to impart to preachers of the gospel, who have heard the voice of God and obeyed His command to declare His eternal living and powerful Word. The preacher is the mouthpiece of God, released in the Earth to announce the will and heart of our Heavenly Father to reconcile all men to himself. He or she stands with great privilege – and ministers with great promise.

As a vessel of God’s Word you, the preacher, bear the promises of God declared for the people to whom you are sent. Because of your position and function, you are often under great pressure. You encounter great persecution because of this call of God on your life.

Being a preacher myself for almost thirty years, I know what we are called to do and what God desires to accomplish through us. I pray this book will fortify your faith, causing you to renew your commitment to the call to preach and the holy life you now live. The preaching life is no small task. To those who say yes to it by putting on this yoke to live for Jesus and ascend the mountain as God’s herald, I celebrate your submission and your loyalty. I pray Adonai (God) blesses you above measure – and that you know His incredible love, grace and favor.

The majority of this writing looks into the life of the Apostle Paul, recorded in the Bible in several chapters of the Book of Acts.

We will look at the unfolding of prophetic purpose in the preaching ministry using as examples Paul, the preacher, and others. We will consider the purpose of God established before the foundation of the world and how prophetic purpose is discovered and fulfilled.

    Chapter One

    Prophetic Purpose

What is purpose and why is purpose so important to the preacher? The Encarta Dictionary defines purpose as the reason why something exists, the resolve to accomplish a goal.
