Pirates Cave is dedicated to my son Jason, it has been sitting around for a long time collecting dust and it is finally time for its release. Here is the story you asked me to write for you so long ago J.J I love you, From Dad.
Introduction
Jason was eight years old when he was living in a small beach house in Virginia with his mother Suzanne. Over time he became fascinated by the ocean he liked everything about it and anything that had to do with it. He liked the sound it made, he liked the smell of it, and he liked the sea shells and the life that came out of it.
Jason was also had an extreme passion and interest in pirates. His dream was to one day as impossible as it sounded was to be a pirate himself. He wanted to have his own ship and a crew of men under his command that would sail the ocean in search of a magnificent treasure.
One of Jason’s most favorite pirates was a pirate who ruled the high seas many, many years ago. This pirate went by the name Black Beard and Jason had read in books that this pirate had the biggest and most magnificent treasure of all know pirates and this would be the treasure he would search for.
Jason had a book with some sketched photos of what people said this pirate looked like. Jason thought the sketch looked very much like his father who past away a few years ago.
Jason’s best friend was John and he lived not too far away just down the beach from him. John was also eight but unlike Jason he didn’t didn’t care much for pirates but he pretended he did because Jason was his friend. And wanted to try and share in his same interests.
Jason and John would play games that they made up at a place on the beach just down from where they lived, a place called Pirates Cave. And even though Jason’s mom didn’t like them to go there, they would go against her wishes. Usually do to Jason curiosity, and his coaxing John.
Most of the time Jason would make up pirate names for them because he was better at it than John. Jason would of course go by his favorite pirate name Black Beard and he would have John go by the pirate name Red Beard or one eyed Sam.
On the last day of school before summer vacation started the two boys ended up at Pirates Cave. John found an old bottle in the sand that he thought was just some junk. That had washed up on shore But Jason knew better and he took it home to study it.
Who was this man they meet on the beach? He told the boy’s he was a Pirate named Mad Dog
John wasn’t so sure, but Jason was curios and that’s what lead him back there to Pirates Cave.
When Jason turned up missing this man "Mad Dog’ was the prime suspect. But he was no where, to be found. Everyone turned to John for help, but all the information he could give could not help.
It wasn’t until Detective Lenny Waters did some research on Pirates Cave until they came up with some leads to where Jason might be.

Chapter One
The Last Day of School
It was a dark and stormy night. Jason was asleep in his bed as the waves from the ocean crashed up on the beach, and the rain beat against the side of his house so hard it, were as if someone was throwing small stones up against it. The thunder and lightning lite up and echoed through the night.
Jason lived in Virginia with his mother Sue they owned a small house on the beach, it wasn’t very big and it needed a lot of cosmetic work done to it but it was theirs.
Their house on 27 Wood Drift Lane and it had three bedrooms. There was one downstairs that Jason’s mothers used and two bedrooms upstairs. One was used for mostly storage and the other one Jason used.
Jason thought that his bedroom was in a great location of the house because if you looked out the window you would find a magnificent view of the ocean.
Jason was fascinated by the ocean, and ocean life. It somehow always mystified him, maybe it was because he has lived near the ocean all his life, maybe it was because his father used to take him deep sea fishing. Or maybe it was that he was a single child and he had to make things up to keep himself busy, and happy.
Even though Jason was only eight years old he learned right away when he was younger the awesome and fierce power that the ocean could have. He learned how it could sink a ship, or even smash it to pieces on the reef. He’s seen the ocean wash a house away and wash out a road.
Then when the ocean’s anger has all gone away and the huge destructive waves that had done so much damage and caused so much fear and the powerful winds that were so strong and bending the trees almost to the ground and blowing lawn furniture around and anything else that wasn’t tied down are now peaceful and calm, and the ocean’s waters that used to be as big as a house and had as much power as a hundred car freight train. Now look like nothing more than a country lake.
Because of this, because of what Jason knows he has learned to respect the oceans awesome furry or its beautiful serenity. Jason knew that the ocean could be his friend, or a terrible enemy.
Sometimes when Jason was tired and he just wanted to rest, he would sit in a rocking chair on his porch and just stare off into nowhere for hours. Just watching as the waves would roll up on the beach and then get pulled back out again making a swishing sound as the next wave came to shore a lite breeze of salty smelling air blowing through his hair, and the wind chime he made with his father jingling beside him.
Once in a while Jason would see a big sailing ship with the mast stretched out tight as it caught the wind and pushed the ship across the waves. Jason knew that some day he would be doing the same thing. That was a dream of his he wanted to be the captain of his own ship and be just like the pirates he has read about in books.
He would wonder who would be part of his crew and how many there would be. He would even wonder what foreign lands he would get to sail to and see.
Sometimes he would think up names for his crew and give them handicaps. Like Jimmy the butcher, he lost his finger when he cut it off while cooking dinner for the crew.
Then there Nick the stick, he lost his right leg to a Great White Shark while swimming in the deep blue sea on a hot summer day and one of his favorites was Steve the Sleeve. He lost his arm one day when he dropped the ship’s anchor, Steve’s arm got caught in a metal rung and as the anchor fell into place that huge anchor took his arm and ripped it right off, and now every time the wind starts to blow and Steve wears a long sleeve shirt, the sleeve with no arm will flop around, just like a flag.
When morning came and the storm had ended and. the air was warming up, there was a steam like mist was coming up from the ground as the sun started to dry up the puddles on the ground.
Jason`s mom went to his room to wake him up for school. It was the last day before summer vacation started.
Wake up sleepy head, it`s time for school
Jason`s mom said’ as she started to open the shades and windows in his room.
Oh mom, do I have to go to school today? I`m tired.
Jason said to his mom as he pulled the covers over his head to block the bright morning sun from his eyes.
"Yes, you do. If you don`t go you
