He stepped into the house and found a few papers scattered on the floor. He bent down and picked a few of them. He found two envelopes, a post card, and a folded piece of paper. The postman may have pushed these letters inside the house. It was almost dark inside the house, so he was unable to read the senders’ names.

He groped his way to the staircase on the right side of the door and found the electric switch board there. When he used to live here, he could move around without any difficulty even in darkness, but now it was different.

Eventually, his hand found the electric switch board and he pressed the first button. Nothing happened. He was surprised and confused. He thought perhaps the electric bulb near the staircase was not working. He pressed some other buttons but there was no light in the house.

Chapter One

He stopped in front of the main door. He looked at the rusted lock and smiled. Pulling a key out of his pocket he tried to open that lock but it did not even budge. He tried many times but the key did not turn in the slot.

He desperately began to look for something around him. Suddenly, he saw a nail on the floor. He picked the nail and instead of that key inserted the nail and gave a little push left and right. Amazingly, the lock opened.

Having opened the lock now it was the turn of the bolt. He had come back to this house after ages. He remembered that the door was never bolted when he lived here. He tried several times, applying his entire strength and unbolted the door. He gave a kick to the door and it opened with a harsh sound. It was a heavy door and swinging on its hinges it moved very slowly. There were small iron rings attached to the door and while opening or closing the door they made a beautiful sound, like the bells.
