Greetings to all Hungry Minds! I now begin to introduce another one of my serial characters, a high tech genius named Wally Justin. Yeah, a funny name to a most unusual character but someone that will find a place in your heart. It will take several stories to finally round out the full accompaniment of characters that will eventually go on to some of the most incredible adventures and outrageous experiences. This intriguing story has a little of everything in it. Luke Mitchner is on his way home from a long tiring journalistic experience and stops over in Vegas for a quick fact gathering session about the electronic town of fun and games. He is then asked by his friend and Editor Dustin Arrow to make a quick side trip to a small mining town called the Pitt Stop. He soon meets up with Wally Justin, a rather likable giant of many talents. There they become friends and partners in mystery, and are soon both embroiled into a most interesting set of circumstances. They finally get near to figuring things out when they stumble into something larger than ever expected. Serious consequences arise as the plot deepens. Their bond is forged and more awaits their exciting lives.

Chapter 1

I was tired, worn out and ready to get my butt home. Now what! It never fails I thought, just as I reached the entrance to the hotel exit when I heard the announcement.

Paging Mr. Mitchner, paging Mr. Luke Mitchner, please come to the front desk. the announcement caught me just as I had posted my latest story about the New High Tech Electronic Vegas and I had just checked out and was headed back to my secluded hideaway in New Port Beach.

As I approached the main desk, a beautifully tanned Vegas beauty pointed to a service phone off to the side while giving me a million dollar smile and said, There you are Mr. Mitchner, use the blue phone in the first alcove, and she added with her near whispering voice, The one closest to me.

Looking over my shoulder at her I lifted the phone, Yeah, this is Luke, I answered just a little too abrupt.

Calm down friend, it's just me, Dustin, hey got an interesting tip for you if you be interested?

Couldn't you have waited another ten minutes until I got out of town and out of reach? And how come you didn't call me on my cell, I inquired with mock irritation of my old friend and editor Dustin Arrow.

Tried, but seems like your cell doesn't want to answer under all that concrete, there in the big bad electric city.

My eyes kept catching the Vegas queen's quick glances over my way, and wondered why these hotels always had to have the most beautiful eye popping women up front. Maybe to intimidate men in upgrading to better rooms or getting them excited for better things to come I thought. I gave her a return smile and was thinking about how much she might sell per pound, at least a grand, but finally got back to the call. I cleared my throat, humph, You got my attention, I was just about to leave, headed back to my castle in the sky in a Van I rented, what's up?
