About this ebook
This Magazine has authors of Indian origin around the world and not just people living in the sub continent. The magazine is conceived as a dialogue — a platform which carries the best of contemporary writing in India. It is not India-specific and addresses a community which is more easily defined in terms of mindspace rather than in purely geographical terms. You’ve never read a magazine like this.

In India, and in the Indian subcontinent, like elsewhere in the world, the function of media has changed dramatically — or perhaps catastrophically — in the last ten years. Newspapers and magazines, once independent witnesses are now mere conduits for the single, approved and flawlessly inflected voice booming from the apex of the pyramid of power. Meanwhile, the reality of the world it belongs to, which they had originally set out to depict, is being covered far better in other media. It is available in literature – in plays and movies, in essays and poetries, in documentaries and commercials. These forms are often neglected in the constant search for profit and a guaranteed watertight business plan that corporate media houses are often shackled by and in the absence of a medium that showcases this literature, it has also not been available to the rest of the world. We felt a need for an independent publication which could offer this material in a world language, and because we felt the need, we did something about it. eFiction India is a professionally produced independent magazine devoted to showcasing the work of writers with a connection to the Indian subcontinent. Its parent magazine, eFiction, is a bestseller at amazon.com and features writers from around the world. The magazine is conceived as a dialogue — a constant stream of thoughts exchanged between writers, editors and readers on a platform which carries the best of contemporary writing in India. eFiction India publishes essays, fiction, poetry, art and criticism, and welcomes first-time authors and published writers alike. One of the special features that eFiction India offers is full-length plays and screenplays, complete with camera/stage directions Although the magazine content is focused on the Indian subcontinent, it is not India-specific. At eFiction India, we want our magazine to address a community which is more easily defined in terms of mind-space rather than in purely geographical terms. Our readers have only one common denominator: they are sensitive and are looking for something more than what mainstream publishing can provide them. We want to be the medium that carries your voice to readers around the world. So, send us your stories and we will let your voice sing to our readers.
