This was a book I wanted to read when I saw it. Honesty, I actually entered a contest to win a copy. Shortly afterwards, the writer sent me a request to read the book and I was very excited. This book is SO much more than I expected. I expected the book to be a suspense. It's actually a romantic suspense. SURPRISE!!The first thing that drew me to the book was it's cover. A woman holding a gun, looking pretty kick a--, come on, talk about woman empowerment. Bounty for Hunter grabbed my attention from the very beginning and did not let it go. Hunter is at the wrong place at the wrong time. He witnesses a couple of dirty cops kill a drug dealer. During the melee, one of the cops is killed. Believing Hunter knows too much, the remaining police officer accuses Hunter of being involved. Hunter is arrested and when someone tries to help him, they're killed. Fearing for his safety, Hunter skips town. With cops and bounty hunters hunting him down, Hunter's sister, Tess, turns to a group of bounty hunters she's told will be able to help her. Enter Sloan’s Bonds and Bounty and Keylee Anders. Keylee is just about to turn down Tess' request to find and protect Hunter, when an attempt is made on both their lives. Knowing she can't leave Hunter alone to fend for himself against dirty cops and a dirty judge, Keylee takes the job.Keylee inadvertently leads someone to Hunter's location and another attempt is made on their lives. Without a gun or any other weapon, Keylee manages to get both her and Hunter to safety. Did I mention the surprise of this being a romantic suspense? Nowhere in the description of the book does it mention a romance or a possible romance. Hunter and Keylee are both attracted to each other immediately. Holy smokes.... This book is HOT.Bounty for Hunter is a short novella that introduces you to characters in upcoming books. While you don’t get tons of background information on these characters, you do get a sense of the type of guys they are. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.Source: AuthorReviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews

Chapter 1

Hunter was pissed beyond reason. How was it possible that he was charged with selling drugs and implicated in a murder charge? Oh yeah, he knew. Dirty cops. He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Telling the truth was supposed to set you free, right? Yeah, except for when it was a dirty cop and hell, most likely a dirty judge. Instead, that damn police detective used Hunter to frame, and clear his own name. Besides him, Hunter only knew of one person that knew the truth. Jason, his business partner.

He and Jason were downtown looking at an old factory building, taking pictures and using Jason’s camera phone to film the streets. They had a big project for restoring an old factory and turning it into luxury apartments. During this time, unbeknownst to them, some cops were paying a drug dealer. Hunter could still kick himself for tripping and dropping the camera. No one knew Jason and he were in the alley behind the large black dumpster. They were caught up in the beauty of the building, using their tablets to sketch new designs, when something caught Hunter’s attention. He saw just enough to place himself in danger.

He watched and listened in disbelief as the dealer shouted, You brought back-up? Our deal is off. It was then that the dark-haired cop turned at looked at Hunter. His eyes were gleaming with hatred. Hunter scrambled back, tripping over a cardboard box, falling down straight on his ass.

Shit! The blond cop replied as he pulled a gun from behind his back, firing three shots straight into the dealer’s chest.

Hunter scrambled up as he saw the cops walk toward him. Pulling himself up Hunter pushed Jason further down the dark corner of the alley. He knew this was bad. If Jason could get away, he certainly would help Hunter out of this mess. Jason’s domestic partner was a criminal lawyer, after all. If Jason could escape and get to Kevin, then maybe there was a chance for him. Hunter stood in front of the dark corner, shielding Jason with his body. Let these murdering bastards focus on him.

So, Dex, what do you think? Hunter watched as the blond cop moved his head indicating him.

Well, see there are a few scenarios that could take place. First, this guy tells us what he’s doing here and we take him down to the station to make a statement. Pending the statement, is one that is believable. The other solution is sorry, son, you die, and it was just a drug deal gone bad.

Hunter did not like the way Dex, the cop, said pending. There was something cold and dreadful in his tone. Either way, Hunter figured he was screwed. At twenty-eight, he was not ready be screwed, especially since his baby sister just graduated college. With their parents dead, he was all she had.

Listen, I didn’t see anything, okay? I came to look at a building to see if I could get equipment down here for a remodel. Stick to the truth as much as you can, Hunter, he informed himself.

Pope, you see what I see at his feet? Dex asked as he pointed the gun toward Hunter’s feet. Standing out against the grey concrete, was his red KonusPix digital camera. Hunter watched as the one called Pope took a few steps closer to the camera. Pope slowly bent down as if getting closer would confirm his suspicions.

Standing up from his crouched position, Pope lifted his large black boot, placing it slowly on top of the camera. Hunter watched as a smile spread across his face at the force of the impact, smashing it into small pieces.

In that moment, all Hunter could think of was thank God, he’d just downloaded all the pictures before he came here.

No, Dex, I don’t see anything. You bring anything with you here in the alley? Pope directed toward Hunter.

Easy answer. No. Nothing. Hunter focused on keeping his voice even and calm. Although on the inside, it felt as though his voice and body were shaking.

Glad we have an understanding. So what are we three to do about our problem? Hunter watched Dex’s mouth move as he slowly approached, but he was too afraid to back away.

Well, what I see is a murder suspect, Dex.

Listen, guys, seriously wrong place, wrong time. I mean, come on, I didn’t see anything. Besides you shooting a guy to death. So, how about I just head on back to my office and everything goes back to being normal. I do my job and well, hey, you guys do your job. Hunter was about to turn away to head back toward the street when he felt a
