I watched a yellow cab pull up across the street and a beautiful woman walk into it. I was watching from my porch. The cab had pulled up onto Janet’s driveway. The cabby got out of his car and helped her with her two bags. She had a medium sized suitcase and a carry on sized suitcase. Both were pink.

She looked across at me and paused for a moment. It looked like she might raise her hand and wave. But she didn’t do it. She smiled, though. A small tentative smile that I did not reciprocate. I stared at her. My gaze was steady. Yeah, I was being an ass. Childish even, but I had tried giving her some friendliness some days before, when I was sitting right where I am now, on my porch. I had waved at her and she had ignored me. Besides, I was supposed to be driving her to the airport and she had obviously declined that.
