From the Foreword
One of the business principles that I have always tried to observe is this: Choose your partners wisely.
This sounds very simple on the surface, but it’s amazing to me how many people have fallen into the trap of forming relationships with those of questionable integrity.
After reading THE MASTER PLAN, it should become clear to you why Mike Ingram has become a trusted partner of mine in many of our mutual business ventures. Mike is a very forthright and transparent individual, and I look forward to a continuing association with him.
If you desire significant success, Mike’s book offers a clear and concise roadmap.

Mike is everything he says he is—and everything he wants to be. All of the principles in this book are more than theory. They are his first-hand life experience. Over the years, I have watched Mike give back to others, many times when it was least expected.
For example, a few years ago, El Dorado was in the process of buying two pieces of farmland known as Homestead Village North
and Homestead Village South
in what is now Maricopa, Arizona. While in the process of putting together a proposal to raise money from our investors for these two properties, Mike received an offer from a homebuilder to purchase the land for tens of millions of dollars more than the purchase price. Closing this deal would have made Mike a very wealthy man. He could have retired instantly, shut down the company, let all of his employees go (including me), and lived the good life
from that day forward.
But, instead, he moved ahead and offered the deal to our investors, and they made the bulk of profits instead of Mike and El Dorado.
Mike may have lost millions in this deal, but he gained the trust, dedication, and respect from all of us who admire him. A man of true integrity!
—Deb Bricker
I was introduced to Mike many years ago through a good friend of mine, Jerry Caven. Jerry had started investing with Mike and had done quite well.
At first, I was quite skeptical, as Mike seemed to be just too good of a salesman. It took me several years to figure out if he was for real. I very cautiously started investing in Mike’s deals and found out that Jerry was right; this guy could make deals happen. After 3 or 4 years of making some nice returns and getting comfortable with Mike, I started getting some other people (including some of my employees) in Mike’s investments.
Mike and I became not only business partners, but also good friends. We rodeo, hunt, boat, and just generally have a great time together. My wife and I always enjoy spending time with Mike and Sheila.
Mike always contributes more than his fair share in whatever he does. Here’s to another 20 years!

DEDICATION
To my mother who gave in every way…C. Maude Ingram.
My dad, Paul, was a very godly and good man. In the thirteen years he was able to spend with me, we shared truly special father-son experiences that I will never forget. He treated me to many ball games and taught me how to hunt and fish before his untimely death at 42 years of age. He passed away after battling cancer for three years.
My mom was widowed at 36 years of age and was left with a 13-year old son who was trying to find his place in life. She was uneducated and faced a huge mortgage on a motel that my dad had built three years earlier. She also had stacks of medical bills as the result of Dad’s cancer battle. She never dated another man, telling me, No one can match your dad.
She was also concerned that another man might not treat her son with the same love and affection as he had. My mom did, however, know how to pray, and prayer was required at every meal and was an every night event at bedtime. We were in church anytime the church door was open.
I never tried to test her will, and I tried to honor and accept her faith and values. She had endured more heartache and pain than anyone I know. She was truly a saint. All I can say is, Thanks, Mom.

FOREWORD
Zig Ziglar
I’ve always believed—and told anyone who would listen to me—that success is 90% attitude, and 10% other stuff.
Then I met Mike Ingram. Mike is all about attitude, attitude, attitude. The other stuff
barely comes in second.
Mike Ingram didn’t become one of the most successful men I’ve ever met because of what he has accomplished. His success lies in his attitudes.
He has the right attitude about people. He knows that by building relationships, he can build a successful business and a successful life. He knows that by helping others succeed—employees, investors, and clients—everyone becomes a winner. Mike does not believe in either/or.
He believes in all.
He has the right attitude about his product. He realizes that a successful business cannot sacrifice quality on the altar of immediate sales or short term profit. His product is all about long-term results…satisfied investors, development partners, and customers.
He has the right attitude about power. He understands that power isn’t about control. Power comes from the values that EMpower the individual. He understands that true power springs forth from integrity, compassion, and sacrifice for others.
Right now, you might be thinking that a man such as Mike Ingram couldn’t possibly be real. That he couldn’t actually exist.
Good news, friend! He is real! He does exist! I know, because I count him among my closest friends. He would probably tell you that I am his mentor, and he is my protégé. But I see just the opposite. In many respects, Mike is my mentor, and I am his protégé. Knowledge is as individual as we are. No one can learn it all, apply it all, or teach it all. The same thing applies to wisdom. No one is all wise.
Yet, great knowledge and wisdom are available to you through the pages of this book.
Mike has used proven, time-honored techniques to build, expand, and enjoy his business and his life. He has learned how to develop a loyal customer base, how to add significant value to products and services, and how to regroup after devastating setbacks. This is a story of overcoming, whether it was surviving tough economic times or forgiving those who sought to take advantage of him. It’s about following a well-designed master plan.
At his core, Mike Ingram is also a Christian
businessman. He has lost or gained more wealth than most of us will ever see. But through his experiences he has learned to trust God. Faith is the foundation upon which his businesses have been built. You will learn valuable business principles from his life; principles that will guide you or strengthen you when you face the lions of adversity.
This book is a special gift to you by an amazing, caring leader who has experienced the valleys and the peaks of building a business. It’s destined to become a classic book of encouragement for all who want to launch or rebuild their own businesses—or discover or recapture the greatness
