About this ebook

Leoni Owens has a problem. She just lost a bet with her best friend and roommate Kate, and now Leoni has a night of girl on girl sex to look forward to, at a sleazy nightclub where anything sexual can and does happen. Leoni also still has a thing for her ex-boyfriend, who she left three months ago. Now she wants him back. But how?

Matthew Wheatley has got it going on, at least professionally. He’s part owner of a successful public relations company with his partner, Rob Lowe. Together they are the people to go to if you need a PR makeover. And when Rob sends Matt on a mission to find out what secrets the night club owner is hiding, Matt doesn’t mind, because it keeps him from thinking about the major personal failure of his life - Leoni Owens. That Matt still has a thing for Leoni is another worst kept secret.

So when these two bump into each other at the club, it’s no secret what happens next. But can they stay together this time?

    Dedication

    To Victoria. Oh, honey!

    Chapter One

    Leoni

I said to my reflection, Thank God it’s Friday.

Kate was suddenly next to me. You can say that again.

    I think I will.

Never mind. Are you ready yet?

Almost. Just have to finish my makeup.

Make it quick, because we need to leave.

Right. I took the cap off a tube of lipstick. But a funny little thing happens when I put on makeup. I always, always, imagine my ex-boyfriend Matt is watching me. He liked to watch me get ready. I thought it was sweet. But the only one to watch me this morning was my roommate Kate as I applied neutral matte lipstick. Finally, I slicked my hair back in a tight bun and secured it with a hair band. Okay. All ready.

Is that all you’re wearing to work?

I paused to look at my outfit, a thin, grey cotton sweater with a modest v-neck and comfortable faded blue jeans, and then I looked at her. What? It’s Friday, right?

    Never mind. Let’s go.

I followed Kate down the hall to the front door, slinging the strap of my purse over my shoulder. Seriously, is something wrong? Do I look weird?

    No. You look very nice.

    Thank you, I think.

Trust me. There’s nothing wrong with how you look. Kate sounded frustrated.

I said, You look really nice, too. That much cleavage should be illegal.

Kate looked down at the valley of cleavage peeking through the neckline of her brown cotton dress, then back at me, blushing. Then she put her hand on my arm. Thank you. Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go.

In silence I followed Kate out the door. Together, we went to her car, a convertible with the top down. We got in and drove off, Kate driving of course. Before we even left the parking lot of our apartment complex, she turned on the radio. Music played as she drove down the street.

Kate Marsh was not an ugly woman. In fact, most of the time, she looked like she just stepped out of a fashion catalog. Men were often intimidated by her, which never failed to crack me up. Kate’s skin was the exact color of honey, dark brown eyes and long brunette hair like mahogany, a few shades lighter than my own. She even had a cute accent. I could have done worse in a roommate. Much worse.

That happy thought put a smile on my face as she stopped at a red light.

As we waited for the light to turn green, the DJ came on and said, Good morning, folks. I’m Bobby Brown, here to serve up the latest and the greatest hits for you during your morning commute. It’s seven thirty one and here with an entertainment news brief is Gail Garner. Good morning, Gigi.

Kate giggled. I said, Be nice.

On the radio, Gigi said, Good morning, Bobby.

Gigi, tell all our listeners out there what celebrity news you have for us on this lovely Friday morning.

Well, Bobby, I have some news about Charlie Sheen!

Really! What’s up with Charlie these days?

Kate made a derisive noise and reached for the radio. Please.

I said, No, leave it on!

"Well, Bobby, Gail said, it seems that Charlie Sheen has his hands full these days and not just with his stage show. He’s got ongoing divorce proceedings with Brooke Muller and he’s also got a breach of contract suit from CBS to handle. But sources close to the network say they’re about to make an
