Chapter 1

Musician Thinking

Rocket couldn’t hold in his smile when he walked into work. He flipped the on switch to the radio, the music was loud and that’s how Rocket worked best at Lynn’s Italian Pizzeria. The louder and harder the music, the happier he was. He was practicing how he’d tell Scott the news: Hey boss, I quit. I’m the new lead guitar player for Sabotage. You enjoy the pizza life, I’m gonna be a rock star.

Each time he practiced his speech, he grinned a little more. At 9am Scott rolled in looking hung-over as usual. Rocket had already made fresh pizza dough and just finished up setting the topping line, where he’d be for the Friday lunch rush. Sometimes Scott would make him box, which Rocket hated since it involved slicing the pizza
