About this ebook

Robert Banner has led an extraordinarily mediocre life. At the age of 46 he thought things should be more comfortable. A good job, a nice house in the suburbs, 2.3 kids,a beautiful wife and maybe a faithful dog to round it all out. No, this wasn’t Roberts’s life. While his wife was beautiful at one time she was now rather large and quite mean; the kids, had two of them, they were large round and lazy little bastards just like their mother. Even the dog was a pain in the ass because it had a bowel disorder and had to wear diapers and one of those cone things on his head. His career choice of being an accountant hadn't been the ideal dream job he had hoped it to be either.

Then one day all of that changed when a new shop opened around the corner from his house "Pipin's Coffee, Baked Goods & Time Travel Cafe". What follows is what happens when a few tasty crullers, a latte and time travel take Robert on a decidedly non-mediocre ride of his life.

"And Don't forget to change the dog's Diaper!"

    Where it all Began

    ––––––––

Robert wasn’t having a very good day, or for that matter, a very good life. At 46 Robert Banner thought everything was supposed to be easier, have a good job, a beautiful wife, a nice house, 2.3 great kids and a dog or some pet of sorts. No, this wasn’t Roberts’s life. While his wife was beautiful at one time she was now rather large and quite mean; the kids, had two of them, they were large round and lazy little bastards just like their mother. Even the dog was a pain in the ass because it had a bowel disorder and had to wear diapers and one of those cone things on his head to keep him from eating his diapers.

Robert decided early in his life that he wanted to have a respectable job, and since he was great at math he decided to become an accountant. Some may find this occupation boring, but not Robert; he loved numbers and knew that being an accountant was a sound life choice. Twenty some odd years later it wasn’t looking as rosy, sure, he made a good living but the work was a quite boring and the wife spent what little he brought home after taxes on food and QVC. Roberts’s life sucked.

That pretty much brings us up to yesterday morning, even Robert would agree that there is no reason to tell any more of his story without boring you to death. Yesterday started out as many of Robert’s days do. Alarm clock going off at 7am, shower at 7:02 dressed by 7:25 and downstairs for a piece of dry toast and coffee for breakfast. After which Robert would go outside and water the garden before heading to work. You see, Roberts’s wife loved flowers so he made a beautiful garden in the backyard to make her happy. Of course she found every reason to criticize him, the flowers and the garden in general but she never forgot to yell down the stairs at him every morning that he needed to water the garden before he went to work.

And don’t forget to change the dog’s diaper!

Yes, Dear Robert would answer in a defeated tone.

Robert found himself daydreaming for a moment as he watered the petunias and daffodils; dreaming of a different life with a loving wife and children, and a dog that didn’t wear diapers or a cone. Unfortunately his beautiful moment in dream land was loudly interrupted by his cell phone. It was Steven Hoyer, Roberts’s boss at the accounting agency. Robert’s boss wasn’t the sharpest crayon in the box, in
