INTRODUCTION
If our one goal in life was to be happy we would have little need for the countless books, video’s, seminars, DVD’s and cd’s on how to achieve success in one or many facets of life.
This sole drive would lead us along a path where ultimately our every wish would be fulfilled and everything would fall naturally into the divine order of nature. There would be an absence of stress and worries which appear to be common within our communities.
This book ‘Happiness is Pear Shape’ takes the view that like the old saying it has gone pear shape
to mean that something which started with great prospects ended in disappointment. Life for many of us is just that, so many things which promise joy ultimately fall short of expectation.
If we accept as the philosophical premise that the state of being happy is the key to a successful life, it is hoped that this book will unlock the doors of the mind which prevent this state.
Happiness is Pear Shape takes you through a gambit of mind/body thought provoking chapters in search of bliss. There are specific instructions in mind training which will dramatically change your life.
It is a journey we all need to take, for some it may be the ride of their lives…
SELF AWARENESS - KNOW YOURSELF
This is not as simple as it may seem. The Brain, also referred to as the Ego will tell you anything you want to hear. It lies. Deep down in our inner self or the unconscious /unwatched mind we know the truth. You may ask the question ‘Well how can I know myself if the brain that tells me who I am lies and the unconscious mind that I am unaware of knows the truth?’
How to really know yourself: Start by observing your thoughts and deeds, (the good and the bad) your fears and anxieties, your anger, your likes and dislikes, your hate-filled thoughts and your loving thoughts. Look at what surrounds you. On the surface level, the people you come into contact with are a mirror - they will show you yourself. When you judge other people and situations this is how you would judge yourself. You condemn or promote yourself in the same manner as you do others. Only, you cannot see this. You think that you are different and there goes that little brain again - lying.
When all of this living is going on what is happening to your unconscious thoughts - do you have any idea? Do you know that your thinking affects your mind and body, there is a great deal of evidence to suggest that ill health can start in the brain by sending thoughts to the cells.
Be watchful. If you think loving, happy, kind thoughts or do a kindness for another person you will feel good. If you think unloving, unkind, unhappy thoughts or act in an unkind way then you will feel bad. Unfortunately, we have learnt to deny
