I recently just read this book and 2 other Encycopedia Brown books, and have had a similar feeling about all of them. The book is a compilation of short mysteries, which the kid detective Leroy Brown solves. At the end of each case, the book gives the reader a chance to figure out the answer. This is a great series which will make children think analytically about each individual story. Some of the answers do seem far fetched, but overall make sense. I would highly recommend this book for a school or home collection, and I think it will span a wider age group than you believe. I recommend this book for children ages 9 - 16.
