- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I think the basis of this book is good, since a Mediterranean style diet is indeed very healthy, but it honestly reads like it was funded by the companies that make canola oil! No traditional diet would ever make use of such an oil and the fact that the author goes into depth about how terrible other seed oils are for humans, while somehow giving canola oil a pass purely because it has some omega 3's in it comes off like pure propaganda. Canola oil is still a highly unstable oil completely unsuitable for human consumption, as are the "low-fat" (read: chemically processed and full of sugar) products that the author recommends. The fact that the author has added in such harmful products to the genuinely healthy diet of her childhood just goes to show how blind some people can be.
