    Don't Quit - Deborah Powe

    AUTHOR

    CHAPTER 1

    DON’T QUIT

Iam writing this book because of the pressure being placed on believers all over the world to quit. It’s as if the wind has been taken out of their sails. They have grown tired, weary and drained; and have decided to just quit. Believers have quit on their marriages and their children; they have quit waiting for the right mate and stopped being celibate; they have quit operating in the principle of seedtime and harvest; they have quit serving in the church and have even gone as far as stop attending church. The quit list goes on and on as people in the Body of Christ are simply throwing their hands in the air and saying, I don’t want to do this anymore, I QUIT!

What a tragedy this is because they have given up on the only One who can help. John 16:33 forewarns us that we are going to have trouble in this world. Additionally, Paul tells us in Galatians 6:9 not to grow weary in well doing because as long as we don’t stop doing what’s right, a reward will follow.

God and His Word are our only hope. Only through the Word do we have peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) or faith to enter into His rest (Hebrews 4). I believe we have weary saints because they are laboring to get rid of pressure brought on by striving to fix everything instead of laboring to enter into the rest of God. Since perilous times are here, this place of rest is crucial for our victory (2 Timothy 3:1).

As believers, it is time to draw a line in the sand and make some things final. It’s time to draw some conclusions with no options. I cannot say it any better than the Word does in Ecclesiastes 12:13 (Amplified), All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.

GOD’S WORD BRINGS FINALITY TO ALL THINGS

Scripture after scripture attests to the certainty and power of God and His Word. Numbers 23:19 explains that God is not a man and does not lie. The integrity of God is unquestionable because He never alters His Word, as declared in Psalm 89:34. James 1:17 proclaims that God is not deceitful. He never breaks His covenant. God spoke with Jeremiah about the unchangeableness of His covenant with David, stating that if David could break the cycle of day and night, then God’s covenant could be broken (Jeremiah 33:20-21). Second Timothy 2:9 says the Word of God can never be bound or held in chains.

Since the Word of God never changes, God is never going to change His mind or alter His word. Therefore, every time the enemy challenges you, the fidelity of the Word should rise on the inside of you, which will defeat the enemy. Every time the enemy rises up, you should rise higher. Every time the enemy rears his head, you should stand up stronger; put your foot on his neck and declare what the Word of God says concerning your life, health, finances, family, job, church, your present and your future. First Corinthians 1:9 (Amplified) says, "God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

God called you to participate with Jesus. When Jesus was on earth, He defeated Satan at every turn. He did it by trusting God and declaring the Word. Like Jesus, God wants you to declare His Word and only say what the Father instructs you to say. If what you hear in your mind doesn’t sound like God, then you should open your Bible and read it out loud to the enemy and to yourself. As Christians, we must practice getting our minds and spirits in check and telling our emotions to get under control.

    GOD HAS THE FINAL WORD

God will always have the final word. Nothing gets pass Him because God created everything and is holding everything together by the power of His Word. He called everything into existence, so nothing exists that He did not call into being. Colossians 1:16 says, For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. Lamentations 3:37 (Amplified) states, Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?

Before Jesus left this earth, He had given believers power over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19); that power included mental and physical strength. With this delegated authority and strength, why should we quit? We have everything we need to defeat the enemy and walk in victory. And because we are not like those in the world who lack hope, we don’t have to be cowards or bow down to the things going on around us. Jesus came so that we might hope in Him; therefore, we must settle our minds and anchor our souls in the Word, so we never consider defeat as an option. Ephesians 6:10-11 (Amplified) says, In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy—armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

Since God empowers us, we need to ask the Holy Ghost to help us instead of trying to figure things out on our own. Most of the time, we’re only looking at the circumstances and effects of those circumstances, while the Holy Spirit knows the root of a matter.

God commands us to stand up against all the strategies and deceits of the devil. Satan attempts to get us to perceive things in all kinds of crooked and perverse ways. He will put you in a place where you will hear and see things that will cause you to give way to fear and defeat; but you must resist him. Understand that’s not the position God wants you in because He has given you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

We are successful and victorious people. If you’re experiencing a trial or temptation, God says, in First Corinthians 10:13, that there is always a way of escape. Actually, God calls us trophies of Christ’s victory in Second Corinthians 2:14 because He’s already won the battle for us; we just need to understand that the fight is over.

God promises to bring you to a safe landing place if you keep your eyes on Him. Our eyes should be focused on God’s Word, the perfect law of liberty, instead of looking to the left or the right. Circumstances and situations don’t have to suppress you, push you down or cause you to be weary. Habakkuk 3:19 (Amplified) says, The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror but to walk] and make [spiritual progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! The Word will liberate you from every circumstance in your life.

It is important to understand that quitting is not going to prevent or stop trouble from coming. You may as well make a stance, draw the line and declare that you’re no longer going to allow things to
