Dig In - Lorieen D. Henry

    Amen.

    Introduction

Choosing to live for God and rely on His strength daily requires devotion. Now, devotion is a form of worship. And what better way to start off your day than with the key ingredients for devotion - Praise! Pray! Plan! These are foundational to a healthy walk with Christ.

I consider them my weapons of mass destruction because I use them to combat Satan and spread God’s message. Let’s jump start our day!

Weapon of Mass Destruction #1 – Praise

Praise means to say good things about – honor, commend, admire, applaud, extol, and worship. It is the joyful thanking and adoring of the Almighty God. Praise makes the devil flee because God inhabits the praises of His people. The devil can’t stand it! He can’t dwell in the midst of praise. Wherever God dwells, the enemy is absent. This is all the more reason to activate our weapon of praise. Therefore, we need to open up our mouths and give God what is due to Him while simultaneously chasing off the devil.

By opening up my mouth and rendering praise, I activate my power!

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. (Ps. 96: 4, NIV)

You are worthy, our LORD and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. (Rev. 4: 11, NIV)

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! (Ps. 150: 6, NIV)

    Weapon of Mass Destruction #2 – Pray/Prayer

Prayer is communication with God. God makes himself readily available to us at all times. His line is never busy! He doesn’t check His caller ID and decide not to take our phone call. We can count on God to listen and respond with care and concern.

Prayer establishes a communication line to God that is essential to cultivating and sustaining any relationship. However, we must be willing to listen and receive the answers we may otherwise miss if we are talking.

Here is the prayer model Jesus taught the disciples in Matthew 6: 9–13, NIV.

This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Weapon of Mass Destruction #3 – Plan

The Master’s plan is in the Bible!

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 2: 5, NIV)

So how do we get the mind of Christ? We gain this ‘through His Word, the Bible’. The Bible is our instruction manual for life. It’s time to crack it open! Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you. (Ps. 119: 11, KJV) The only way to get that Word hidden down deep is to study it – memorize it. We’ve got to rise above life’s struggles and
