About this ebook

This World of Echoes takes us on a wondrous and powerful journey from the source of divine energy to its unfolding in sound and light as planes of greater and greater density—planes that form our spiritual and physical ‘worlds’.

Its core themes help us understand why our world works the way it does, what our personality is made of and how we can move beyond it to identify instead with our higher consciousness.

Book One introduced the unfolding of Divine Energy from its Still point at source to increasingly dense, distorting layers of substance and consciousness that we—as human personalities—define as 'reality'. Its beautiful language took us to a universe of new thought and higher states of knowing. In layers of meaning it explored the nature of Self, the duality of our personal worlds and the wholeness of the greater Life that surrounds us.

This is Book Two. It takes us deeper into the nature of both the personality and the soul (or higher self) and their relationship to each other. It examines the attributes of Will and Love at both these levels of consciousness, looks at our spiritual evolution as both a path and a service, and explores our understanding of faith and healing. In beautifully expressive language it continues to expand our understanding of the nature and reality of Being as it unfolds from Divine idea into the structure and form we experience as life on Planet Earth.

Book Three brings us more insights into the contrasting worlds of the personality and soul (or higher Self). It furthers our understanding of how the unseen unfolds from the depths of the void of potential into the apparently solid reality we human beings experience as This World of Echoes. This final book of the trilogy expands on our relationships—with ourselves, with each other and with the greater Life of which we are a part.

    Introduction

The subjects of this book are interrelated. More than this they are in fact all the same topic. Truth is One and words are at best a linear representation of what is not linear but ‘holographic’. Each topic therefore, is just a window showing a different view of the same Truth.

Because humankind is easily blown about by change, a different mood will find Truth in a different way. Delve therefore as the mood takes you but practise diligently the wisdom herein and it will not be mood but knowledge that rules your life and orders the reactions of your day.

We have used the term ‘God’ because it is important to be clear about what this word means. Ever man will argue the use of words as if words have some reality of themselves whereas they are only symbols of a greater meaning. Right now, humankind needs to understand the greater meaning behind this word that he may see the falsity of division between the belief groups of his world. When you see the word ‘God’ in this text therefore, take the broader meaning as it is presented here, not the narrow confines of what you have been taught that word should mean. Do not limit God to your small idea of Him!

When you can use not words, but the speech of your mind with other minds, you will have no need to restrict the concept of God to ‘He’ or ‘It’ or ‘She’. But for now, read not the personal ‘He’ literally. You yet need this personal noun to relate God to the individuality of you and will learn that God is both personal and impersonal, but in fact his personal manifestation is you.

This book will give you many keys if you will but let it. Hold it not tightly in your mind but let your heart wander round its words and free your mind to travel farther than your known world, into the door of distant realms. Ever the key is your intent, to let the greater God lead you or to stay confined within the walls of man’s convention set by men of past religion, righteous in their way but tiny in their scope when shown against the opportunities of your expanding minds today.

Many agonies do the spiritually brave suffer over the dualism of materialism and mind. But this is only temporary misunderstanding of cause and effect. To deny your part in the world is to misunderstand the principles of cause and effect, and when you understand the relationship of consciousness to materiality you will no longer abdicate your responsibility but grasp your lives with Love and Will, and truly then will spirit manifest on Earth.

As you see the world, so it is for you. To understand and move beyond this truism is the prize of soul communication and only when you truly move beyond it do you become really useful in the world. Usefulness, service—these are the prizes that emerge unlooked for when you understand how to be only that which in pure essence you are. From such understanding and practise grows desire, willingness and readiness to serve.

When you understand your being, you begin to serve Being itself. You cannot help it, it is automatic, because within Being there is in Truth no division, though there is distinction, until each has travelled by his own route to the same end, and he who serves Being must in the end be serving all.

Being is a state of grace. It is not a reward for good behaviour dished out by a judgmental God, but the state, the nature if you like, of a level of consciousness. God does not punish, but sets the Law, the framework by which worlds exist, and within which they have their form. Consequence, ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ follows naturally according to your understanding of and adherence to, those fundamental laws. All that is created by God is God, and it is not for man to judge, (according to his own social whim and interpretation) those which God creates in likeness of each other on any plane. All are at different stages of unfoldment in their understanding and their place in the working out of what man has called ‘God’s plan’.

The wise man loves, but discriminates wisely, understanding what is appropriate for those at different levels of awareness. The attainment of such wisdom is not acquired by social decree or appointment to high office, though high office may be the outcome of one’s attaining wisdom. No, wisdom comes when the ability to love is tempered by knowledge, when all the subtle bodies of a man are pure and wholly aligned, not to his Earthly kings of selfishness or greed or ambitious desire, but to the master teacher of his soul under whose tutelage he grows. This master and the other ‘lesser’ teachers of your soul do not recruit, but they wait always in readiness for your call and the attunement of your consciousness to a level whereon you may feel, see, know or hear their response.

Patience children Mine! You cannot in your world of time, jump in a day from desire to mastery, any more than you can run the fastest race without the skill or training. If you would know your teachers on the inner planes, training and skill is indeed necessary, but be not discouraged at what I say for right practise must always bring its just reward. That is the Law, that the nature of the intent will guide the activity that leads to the complement, the attainment of the intent.

Diligent practice, intelligent discrimination of thought, will bring results and steadily the fruits of lifetimes will be yours. How can they not be? There is no failure in God’s language, for all must return in consciousness to God again, since they are themselves God, and nothing truly leaves its creator, no matter how far and how dangerously some seem to have travelled in darkness of hate, or lust for power, or personal despair.

So, aspirants of Light, be strong, for nothing but the Light dwells within the innermost heart of you. And give not your power to any thing that diminishes or hides this Light from you. And when a man-made law attempts to hide the Light of one to advantage another, it is not God’s law but man’s indulgence in the personal ambition of man. And when one offends against the Light of another, he cannot really in Truth diminish that Light, yet the error of his thinking must be understood by him, and society must be at pains to correct unrelentingly until the man himself can see and know and understand the error of his ways. The love and respect of each other must always be the aim, but Love is not weak, it is wise, and tolerates not the criminal nor the foolish, but sets both upon the path of understanding, the one to turn about its desire, the other to bring intelligence and discrimination into the life.

Love is not a weak acceptance but a burning flame that works in consort with wisdom and God’s Will, and thus is God’s plan advanced and all the myriad worlds return themselves to heaven. Heaven, and what is heaven? Heaven is a place of knowing beyond which lie greater halls of knowing, and the journey ever higher does indeed have end where it began, inside the One creating ‘I’ that moves not, but sits behind all manifested things, as your own flame moves not but sits as manifested God within the depths, beyond which there is nothing else, at the uttermost centre of you.

Wisdom is never about selfishness, yet knowledge of Self is an essential ingredient in that intricate and distinguished web that is the subtle makeup of the wise. Put aside your previous perception and read what is written. Look carefully for that which cautions and balances, urging you to reason divinely beyond the muddied waters of other people’s repetitions of yet still other people’s teachings. This book is about learning to discriminate, to tune the inner ear to the subtleties of being, that you may learn which part of you it is that speaks to you, that you may know the solidity of the source of your own soul, then to know that source the source of all that is, supplier of a never-ending stream of Light for you, unbroken by what would before have been cause of much distress.

Slowly, but steadfastly, you may fly through the storms of inconsistency and bring at last all the diverse, warring parts of you together, aligned upon the mirror of your soul that you may know your being in all its varied aspects, and put at last to greater use that part of you whose footsteps tread the Earth. Yet all the while your mind’s aligned with heaven that the Light of higher planes be funnelled down, that you may know, not just in some romantic way, what being is; a multitude of levels, yet a core unchanging, a multifaceted jewel created by the splendour of God,
