About this audiobook

In American society one could hardly find a subject more controversial or more apt to raise hackles, prompt desires or trigger fears. For this reason alone it is important for us to dissolve the myths and uncover the truth about substances that cause significant changes in the body and/or mind. Weil, an M.D., provides us with an overview not generally available. Without condoning or condemning drug use, he gives us some new perspectives.

Dr. Andrew Weil explains the relationships of psychoactive drugs, including ( SURPRISE!) caffeine, chocolate, lomotil, and benadryl, as well as typical ones like cannabis, cocaine and methamphetamines to/in the human body in a non judgmental and matter of fact way.
Society's tendency to term psychoactive drugs either "good," ( i.e. caffeine) or traditionally "bad," ( heroin) without having a deeper understanding of their uses, metabolites, and effects make it clear that a much broader understanding and acceptance of the pharmacologic uses of all of these substances would help a great deal in both current drug pandemics, and laws regarding and punishing acquisition and use of them.
He is a very enlightening medical professional and writer/speaker.
